Reviews of Emlyn Hughes International Soccer

First of all, apologies for cross-posting: those following a number of related forums may encounter more than one version of this message. This is only because we are trying to spread our net as wide as possible in our search, and I hope no one will be offended by it.

 

We are a small group calling ourselves the Emlyn Hughes International Soccer Community, united by our admiration of the Audiogenic title Emlyn Hughes International Soccer (EHIS). One of our goals is to document as much of EHIS's history as possible, including contemporary magazine reviews of the game. Like most of Audiogenic's titles, EHIS was released on multiple platforms, including Atari ST.

 

As you can see at our reviews section, we have so far managed to track down only one review of the Atari version (and even that we don't have a scanned version of). Most of our members grew up with the C64 version of the game (hence the "64" in our domain name), and none of the core members are that familiar with the Atari scene.

 

I am therefore writing with the hope that someone here might be able to help us. Any information would be helpful, be it simply a suggestion about where (and how) to look, or actual information about a review we have not yet uncovered. Better yet, anyone willing to sacrifice their time and energy to scan any possible reviews would certainly be loved and adored by our small community until the end of time.

 

We are looking for reviews in any language, but they should come from actual gaming magazines of the time. We would not shy away from related articles either, for example ones that only mention EHIS in passing.

 

The Atari ST version of Emlyn Hughes International Soccer was released sometime in June 1990. Re-releases for other machines continued until 1993, as did the reviews, so issues published in the time period between 1990 and 1994 would probably be the ones to leaf through.

 

Of course, any non-Atari reviews that we are missing would also be more than welcome. Note that while we have information about some reviews, we do not have actual scans of all of them. These are marked with a red cross on our Reviews page. If you own any of these magazines and can help with the scans, that would be marvellous indeed.

 

Finally, if you happen to be an old fan of EHIS, yourself, do join the online league (which was just reopened yesterday after a year-long hiatus). Note, however, that we play the C64 version of the game.
