Hi there!

Phew... going into NESland with Babysteps, yet still there's problems lurking on every corner. The 'highlights' so far:

1. The NES lockout chip. Funny beast that is. There you go, one chip inside the NES, the other in each and every cartridge. If they don't manage to talk to each other properly => WHAM! Offline it goes! :-o

2. There's no publishing service! With zillions of hacks around, almost 100 translations of formerly japanese only games, completed homebrew projects like "Sack of Flour" and even a bunch of cool demoscene releases, it's hard to believe that this currently is the closest thing to a NES publishing service: NES Reproductions.

3. No BCD numbers. Yup. They cut the required circuits from their custom 6502 design. Brilliant move for creating the heart of a games console. Not that a game would ever need to display something like a decimal number or so... :ponder:

Greetings,

Manuel
