vdub_bobby
Pinball? No, Pin-Bot! Whatever the heck that is? I've never played it; should be fun. Post a score and let's get this thing rolling! Please post any tips you may have - best tip gets 1 bonus point! Also, if anyone has a link to the manual, please post it. EDIT: Found a link to the manual: text version A special note: Please don't post scores that were achieved after a "continue." All scores should be for a game that was started from the beginning. This week's competition ends next Monday morning at approximately 9:00 am PST. This week's standings: 19,198,910 rjchamp3 (10 pts) 15,585,360 figgler (8 pts + 1 bonus pt for best tip) 7,333,900 nester (6 pts) 6,931,730 MetalSlime23 (4 pts) 6,442,640 Malc74 (2 pts) 4,854,670 8th lutz (1 pt) 3,340,640 mojofltr (1 pt) 2,864,370 BrianC (1 pt) 1,578,170 vdub_bobby (1 pt) 764,230 LarcenTyler (1 pt) Twin Galaxies Top Scores 99,999,999 Tom Votova 99,999,999 Todd Rogers 5,802,460 Mr. Kelly R Flewin Overall standings: 1. rjchamp3 (22 pts) 2. figgler (18 pts) 3. mojofltr (16 pts) 4. Malc74 (11 pts) 5. vdub_bobby (9 pts) 6. LarcenTyler (7 pts) 7. nester (6 pts) 8. 8th lutz (5 pts) 9. keilbaca (4 pts) 10. MCHufnagel (2 pts) Tips figgler: Select and Start let you bump the table (becareful not to tilt). In the pic here, when the ball rolls through where I've shown the red arrows, keep bumping the table to make it slow down and earn points. Normally you get 5000 each time the ball passes through, but if you bump it through, you can get 10 and sometimes 15 000 each time. See his post for the pic. Lauren Tyler
It's hard to get a snapshot of your score after the game ends, so it's best to do it after you enter your initials. Your score will flash after you're done entering initials.
figgler
This screen is good for snapping your score too. Just let the game run a few seconds from the title screen, and it appears. My best so far; 4 756 530 Also, here is a good tip. Select and Start let you bump the table (becareful not to tilt). nester
Oh high score club, where were you when I needed you. I spent way too much time in high school playing this game with my brother. We got to where we could consistently score in the 10s of millions. I've still got a little bit left though. My high score so far is 5,319,850 Hopefully I can still do better than this

uosipa llamxew
I don't have access to this cartridge so I am playing with NesterDC. I can't get used to the way the split screen works. Here is a textfile of the manual. 3. mofofltr (18 pts) Everyone around here calls me mofo as well. *sniff* I guess I have a bye week, see ya next game And run the risk of losing your spot at the top?! I say, bust out an emulator just this one time. Edited September 25, 2006 by mojofltr
figgler
Better today. One of the things I love about Pinbot is how you can "Shoot for Solar Value" as the Pinbot says, to advance the stages. Although, I died twice today because of the ball eating monster on the second stage. Score; 7 565
keilbaca
The other day I actually played the real pinbot in a laundry mat. I need a PC emulator to play this, as my psx version isn't compatible with it. I'll be posting a score hopefully...
nester
Well I got 7,333,900. I guess I gotta catch up a little now. My brother got 9 million today, but he can't play because he's not a member.

figgler
This is my personal best by far. I managed to get a few cool things happening this time, including morphing the ball into a rounded pyramid shape, which I had forgotten was possible New score; 15 585

figgler
It's funny how so many people vote in the poll, but don't play. I am sure Pinbot got about 7 votes, but there are only a handful of us playing this week. Come on guys - participate!

Malc74
3,043,550 I haven't the faintest idea what I'm supposed to be doing - I suppose I should really read the instructions and find out where I should be shooting the ball. Actually, it's almost as much fun trying to work out what the digitised speech is saying as it is playing the game (does it really say "a dogs make up" at one point?) Fantastic score figgler, BTW. figgler
Fantastic score figgler, BTW. Thanks As far as what the Pinbot is actually saying. Here's what I think he says in each instance I can think of; Pinbot circuits activated Shoot for Solar Value Partial Link up I am in your control Now I see you For anyone who hasn't, you really should check out the instructions. There is all kinds of depth going on here that really makes this the premier pinball game in my mind. You can morph the ball like I did for instance. Also, once you light up the entire multi-coloured board and Pinbot says "I am in your control" you can shoot 2 balls into the open slots behind the shield. Get both in, then he'll release them. Get 1 in again and he'll say "Shoot for Solar Value". If you can get the ball up the big ramp on the left at this point, you can advance the stages where enemies are introduced and the colours change. Stage 2 has a ball eating monster-blob, Stage 3 has bugs that shoot missiles to destroy your flippers, etc. I don't think I've ever been past Stage 4 though

MetalSlime23
My score is 6,931,70. I feel this is pretty good since I have never even heard of this game before now and have only played it 4 times. I do have to say that the voice is REALLY bad (I know this was breakthrough technology at the time) and the graphics are kinda hard to make out. I know the game developers were trying to be cutting edge with the graphics, but this actually seems to hinder the game. (Was that a skeleton in the top right corner?) I have to say I still prefer the original Nintendo Pinball

I have to say I still prefer the original Nintendo Pinball Unlike the original Nintendo Pinball, Pinbot is based on a real arcade pinball machine. The voice is hard to make out, but it's cool that they at least attemped to put the voice from the arcade into the NES version. As far as the graphics, I like them. There is absolutely no way all of the colors from the original machine could make it to NES. Rare, IMO, made out well with what they had. BTW, that's not a skeleton, it's a female robot.
