Pengwin
After my last 800XL recently bit the dust (it could just have been loose components, but I'm not too technically minded to the insides of computers), I have managed to aquire a new one from eBay for only £15. Even better...it's in better condition than my old one and I think it's a later model (my old one had the buggy basic). Spent all last night playing Archon and Ultima III
Rybags
Ripped from another site - to find which revision you have: PRINT PEEK(43234) If you get 162 you have Rev A If you get 96 you have Rev B If you get 234 you have Rev C There were also bugs besides the old move code bomb - rev B padded programs with 16 bytes of unneeded data every time you SAVEd. Pretty sure Rev A had a bug where an INPUT statement without arguments would lock up the machine.
Pengwin
Just tested, I now have Rev C. My old one was Rev A
Rybags
I don't think any XLs after the 1200 had Rev A.
drac030
Pretty sure Rev A had a bug where an INPUT statement without arguments would lock up the machine. Rev. C has similar bug in the DIM statement. This is a bug in the syntax control table, not the interpreter code itself.
deathtrappomegranate
I don't think any XLs after the 1200 had Rev A. And the 1200XL didn't have built-in BASIC at all.
Ross PK
What're you going to do with the old one, get it fixed or keep it for spares?
Pengwin
What're you going to do with the old one, get it fixed or keep it for spares? I was thinking of eBay, I'm sure it can be repaired, just that I'm not that knowledgeable about the inner workings.
