Cybergoth
Hi there! Anyone have this one? What is it? First I thought it was a NOAC with pirated games, but it seems they were officially sold by QVC? Is it the real NES games, or reprogrammed garbage? 64 NES games sure sounds like a good deal, especially since some of them were never released in Germany back in the day. Sweater Fish Deluxe
Just because it's on QVC, doesn't mean it's licensed or legal. The Gunboy is pirate through and through. It's basically like all the other Power Player and Mega Joy type systems except that the gun is built into the controller, too. If anything, 64 games is slightly below average for a Famiclone. Most come with 76 and a few have 128. For all those numbers, you'll end up subtracting about 10 games because of repititions or broken up games (different events in Track & Field, for instance, are usually listed separately) and that's if you're lucky, sometimes "64-in-1" will actually be only three or four games repeated ad nauseum. Also keep in mind that these are all mapper 0 games. Sometimes Contra or something gets thrown on, but for the most part the games included are very early Famicom releases, so they're more like Colecovision games than the later NES games. Personally, I like having a Famiclone-in-a-controller system. I don't really like the NES enough to want to have a full NES system and a bunch of cartridges lying around, but it's cool to be able to pull out my Famiclone and play some Super Mario Bros. or Tetris when I want and I especially like the fact that these systems are semi-portable so I cane easily take it to someone else's house. Of course, recently systems like the OneStation have begun coming out that even have screens, but still also include TV-out, so ultimately those will end up being cooler systems for what I want in a Famiclone. ...word is bondage...
