Alex
Glad to hear it Rick! Thanks for letting us know what happened. And to think this guy would have gotten away with it if he had just been a little less greedy.
Philflound
I'm still trying to figure out what happens when he attempts to cash my check that I stopped payment on. I wonder if I get it back. Then maybe I will have his bank account info. Phil

If he just tries to cash it at a branch of the bank the check is drawn on, he should get denied, unless that bank has a very old system. If he goes to a check cashing company, he will probably be able to cash it, albeit at a steep fee. Then the check cashing company is out the money, but they will have his ID on file. I used to work at a bank in college, and about once a year we would meet with the police department where they would educate us on the latest scams - they would show us fake bills, bogus checks, fake ID's, etc. Some forgeries were very very good, and some were so laughable that it was amazing someone actually tried to use them.
