raam
I've found a add in board to save high scores for my Asteroids. Around $45. Anyone know of a less expensive way to make one ?
arcadebasement
I put one in a mate's cab. If your asteroids is rev 1 then you'll need a rev 2 chip. If your machine says "Asteroids by Atari" then you have rev 1, if it says "1979 Atari" then you have rev 2. The highscore daughterboard I bought came with a rev 2 chip. The board does more than just save highscores, it also extends the highest score possible to a million and adds 5 more hiscore slots. All in all, it's worth the $45 over attempting to build one your self imo.
TheBman80
I wish they had one for Contra the scores just reset after you turn the game off but I never really did check to see if it and an on board battery. I don’t think it does though.
raam
I saw a ram chip for asteroids, but I think it was just high scores NOT save high scores. I seem to remember when I was a kid the games saved the scores. Maybe they didn't turn them off. LOL
arcadebasement
I've gotta say that the saving of high scores adds a lot to a machine. My only cab that doesn't save is Mr Do but I'm working on it!

arcadebasement
I did for the Asteroids. My pacman and galaga had them built in as part of the anniversary cab. Takes about 5 minutes to do the asteroids upgrade using that daughter board just be careful taking the chips out and ensure you're putting them back in the right orientation. I'd also like to fix up the paint on the control pannel, any suggestions ?
arcadebasement
Don't bother fixing it. Buy a CPO from these guys for $35 http://www.arcadeshop.com/parts.htm#Graphics I've ordered from them before and they're great.
