Hyper-Sports Confusion

Can someone out there tell me How to do the events in Hyper-Sports? I can manage Swimming and Skeet shoot and that's about it! What are the control schemes?

 

This is kinda frustrating- just like in Track & Field. I can do all the events except for the high jump- I always lose at that event!

Well the weight lifting is straight forward, pound the buttons until you reach the white bar and then press the jump button to lift the weight above your head. Archery is the hardest for firstly you have to press a button (cant remember which one) to get the correct wind speed then time your shot so that the yellow bull passes the bottom corner of the box (or something like that) at the top of the screen but be careful not to hold down the button too long for otherwise the angle of the arrow will be way off and miss the board. 45 degrees is usually good enough to hit an inner circle. With the pommel horse you have to run to the horse, press jump to leap onto it then jump again to get yourself airborne before hitting the run buttons to spin your man as many times as possible ensuring that he lands perfectly to score big points.
