nathanallan
I've been saving disk images and forgot how to make disks out of them! Here is one attached, what program do I use to make it back into a disk? It's a 1040 ST language disk, nothing fancy, just a straight system disk. After you unzip it, it's 1040lang.st Nathan 1040LANG.ZIP

nathanallan
Got it, but I still don't know what to do. Are these more disk images? What I'm asking for is a program to make disks from images. Thanks for the quick response but I'm still in the dark.

tjlazer
You need a program to write the .ST image to a disk. There are tools for a PC or ST. Which do you need? I use one called ST2DISK on the ST. Also there are some for the PC like MAKEDISK and STDISK that run on DOS. If the disk image is anything but a standard 720k disk you will need to boot into pure DOS to be able to write it. You cannot do it in Windows. (ie boot to a MS-DOS disk and run the program, you can store the .ST files on your HD if you want) PCTools.zip ST2DISK.zip Edited December 27, 2006 by tjlazer

ijor
Floppy Image could do the job if you are under XP. http://www.ppest.org/atari/floimgd.php Has anyone tried this under Win98SE? It won't work. For Win 9X use MakeDisk. But it works better if you boot in DOS mode.
ppera
Floppy Image could do the job if you are under XP. http://www.ppest.org/atari/floimgd.php Has anyone tried this under Win98SE? Does anyone read instructions for programs? Seriously, it would be good that it work under Win98, but MS changed too much in architecture, so it would require lot of work - actually writing somekind of low-level floppy driver. And Win98 users can use MAKEDISK - it will do the job is most cases. Instead it, I work currently on making of Linux version. It is more 'future-proof'

tjlazer
Yes it does, has transfered everything I have thrown at it! Really saves time so you dont have to boot to DOS, transfer the files to a real ST to write back, etc.
