Shannon
Here is a rather interesting little speech.
Shawn
So the chips should be on the market in no time as it seems all that will need to be done is reprogram the mod chips with the lower case password and adapt the pinout to the new on board serial port. AWESOME!!
Shannon
Yeah I thought that was rather funny. Just as bad as mickeysoft's lame attempts to stop the xbox software xploits. I have not yet got a wii, but I betchya I could hex edit the .dol file I have for running backups to change the password to lowercase and it'd work. keilbaca
Good, hopefully some awesome homebrew stuff will be made for the Wii
Shannon
Actually he says in the video that homebrew may not happen because nintendo has signatures on the executables. Odd isn't it? They go to the trouble to add signatures which really all that does is prevent homebrew. Yet leave the door wide open for pirated copies. compacho
I rather have homebrew than pirated copies.
Shannon
Yeah me too... I don't really care much for pirated copies. I make enough to afford the stuff I like and homebrew is more interesting. Although there a few rare occasions where it comes in handy. They go to the trouble to add signatures which really all that does is prevent homebrew. Yet leave the door wide open for pirated copies. Yep, it's Atari 7800 and 3DO all over again. Easy to make copies, impossible to make new games without knowing the master key. The only chance is if N screwed up and used crypto improperly for signing Wii games. (FWIW, GCC did not get it wrong with the 7800, and it was only through dumpster diving that we can homebrew for the 7800 today.) It is possible that someone may figure out how to hack the boot ROM, but it would be much better if homebrews could be played without a mod chip.
