Paranoid
Is it just me, or is Jaguar emulation not ready for prime time yet? I can't get it to really run well on my P4 3.4ghz, anyhow.
+remowilliams
I can't get it to really run well on my P4 3.4ghz, anyhow. That's because (despite the hard work of some talented individuals) all the emulators that currently exist, suck.

None of the Jag emulators are very good. I tried some a few years ago on my Celeron machine and lately on my Core 2 Duo machine with the same results - BAD! It's not like SSF where a more powerful machine made it work for me. I was told that nobody is working on them at the moment, so there probably won't be a better emulator anytime soon. That's because even amongst us weirdos that constitute the 'classic gaming' population, statistically nobody cares about the Jaguar. It just gets no love! Gregory DG
I wish one of the Jaguar fans would look at the source code for Project Tempest and update it. It's a good first try, but I'd like to see some more compatability and joystick support.
oesii
I see lots of hang-ups in the way of Jag emulation. I think part of the problem is that the most talented Jag coders are still doing games/projects or are not really emulator programmers/hardware specialists. There's also the software developers that are overzealous in their copy protection and exclusivity, IMHO. That doesn't really work well with mainstream platforms and really creates a backlash in the classic gaming community. Overall I think the backlash and negativity in the Jag community often derails people picking it up for the first time and enjoying it both in RL and in emulation.
