gamme
Pitfall II has music from before the dawn of mankind. Beat that.
Albert
Pitfall II was one of those rare games I owned as a kid and I remember being dumbfounded by the quality of the music. Nothing else really came close in terms of complexity, although other games certainly had "good" music ("good" being relative to the 2600 of course). Someone already mentioned Mountain King--that's another game with great in-game music. I wish I had the time to record music from all the 2600 games that sport it. It would be a lot of fun to add this audio to our database, and is something I've wanted to do for a long time. It would be interesting to see a list of all the 2600 games that have music, even if they are really short clips (including homebrew games..) ..Al
shadow460
One of the first games I played with in game music was Rabbit Transit. It was simple music, but it made a difference. Bump 'n' Jump comes to mind as well.
TheHoboInYourRoom
That brings up a point - Quadrun and Berzerk VE both blank the screen while playing audio. I wonder if anyone's tried to output digitized audio like this while also trying to display a screen? Granted, the screen wouldn't be very detailed and the audio couldn't be very long, but it would be interesting nonetheless. Open Sesame draws a screen while it says, "Open Sesame!" when you turn the system on.
