I got the Intellivision!

Even though I'm not major fan of the original arcade version of Donkey Kong, but D2K was the major push of getting me a Intellivision. The reason is that it has 2 different characters each with it own quirks like Bruno can climb ladder with the hammer while Toni can jump with the hammer. There's 5 new levels in addition of the original 4 levels that were in the arcade. It's pushes the Intellivision's hardware limitation such as flickering the mobile objects since only 8 sprites can be displayed on screen at once. It plays so smoothly.

I brought the game first because that's the easiest thing to get. I was thinking that I'll be spending a good amount of money to get an Intellivision. I got very lucky with the Colecovision and it still works well to this day. Hearing newcoleco's Colecovision breaking down doesn't sit well with me. It just so frickle with power cord, and I think his power cord might be Canadian's version. I just hope it doesn't fry the VRAM. Maybe I can ask on the PCB thread that 5-11 under posted if there's a way to prevent a massive surge of electricity going into the system. Even messing with the RF cable somewhat currupts the VRAM. Even with this issue, I still love my Colecovision to death. I will fix that thing if it breaks, or send it to Dr.Yurkie for a repair. Guys like him is awesome restoring these system back to health and give people a chance to try the Colecovision. Anyway, I gambled on Amazon and got it for a fair price and the system works. The 2nd controller have wires pulled out a bit. I'll have to test that controller to see if it working. The system came in clean and I got a cool artwork on the shipping box of dice and pawn chess pieces.

The Intellivision on the other hand is very tough and I'm impressed by the wood grain body. I ultimately found the sweet spot how to hold that controller. I used my right thumb for the disc, and use my left hand to access the right top button to jump. I really like the disc and fire buttons are a bit stiff but those rubber buttons are strong back in the old days. The disc spins which is great. The back of the controller made sense how to hold it and I was able to hit that fire button with no problem.

I had a dream about this system's controller and I was so curious about it. Angry Video Game Nerd blast both the Colecovision's and Intellivision's controllers. You guy shouldn't take AVGN too seriously since he's acting. Classic Game Room doesn't like his controller either, but he needs a good working Intellivision player 1 controller, but I haven't tried Intellivision II controller so I can't make a judgement. I think it takes awhile to get used to. I used to dislike the Colecovision controller until I found a better way to hold it so my hands don't hurt as much. For some game where fire button needs multiple of press, then Sega Master System controller is best for those type of game like Gyruss and Zaxxon(It is a Sega game after all).

I love playing video games. If there's a game that stands out for other system and I want to get it, then I will try to get it at any cost. I buy homebrew game to play these wonderful games for their system. D2K is awesome. If you have an Intellivision, I would suggest to buy this game. Now I need to try to see if I can get a copy of Super Burgertime 69 level version. Burgertime was the game that made me buy the Colecovision in the first place because of Classic Game Room gave it a wonderful review.

I'm on my second Intellivision now. I owned one back in 1999 (original version), and I recently got an Intellivision 2.

The disc is cool, but I can't get used to the buttons, and it has really limited my enjoyment of the console.

I'm currently on the waiting list for an custom arcade stick, and expect that to resolve this problem for me, so I can do some serious gaming on this console.
