The topper that never was...

blog-0331982001410279874.jpgI'm a big fan of many Taito arcade games. Although I have owned very few, I have wanted many! I was going to get one of those programmable Taito multi boards that were all the rage a few years back and I thought I would make a fun little arcade machine topper to go with it. I had a real thick and durable funky orange color that seemed perfect for the job. Well, long story short the material I set aside to make some of these with was "accidentally" thrown in the recycle dumpster and only these two toppers (the prototypes) survived. They are in Possession of Lloyd (SS Billiards) and Collin (Eby Island) Recently I found a few pieces of the material used to make these but seeing as I lost interest (and never did get a Taito multi cade) I used it to make Giant Adventure Dragons, lol

I don't think I'll ever make these again. If I did I would slightly redesign them. I was never really happy with the way they mounted. I did a V-Groove at 80% of the material thickness so you could bend the bottom tab and mount it to the top of your arcade machine

The problem with this design is if you bend it more than 3 times or so it will snap off. I was also unable to really test how long that bend would support the extremely top heavy portion of the topper (without bending back and laying flat) experience tells me it would have been fine, but I really don't know so maybe it was a good thing they never really happened ;)
