I hadn't worked on my novel in a while, so I decided to pick up where I last left off. I had written three chapters, one a day, for three days. And then I didn't work on it for about a week and a half. So now I finished the fourth chapter, where the character's lives are just beginning to unravel. I have a vague foundation of the story line, but other than that, I just write and whatever I write I decide to leave in because I deem it good. So right now I have 4 chapters and 2,300 words. I'm not sure how many words the average novel has. But I had at first aimed for 60 chapters. That now seems awfully high, so now it's 30 chapters. If thirty chapters is what I end up writing, that'd be about 17,000 words. OK, so maybe I should go for 60 chapters then, for 34,000 words. But I'm four chapters in. I guess I need to slow down the story telling if I want to have 60 chapters in the novel. Anyway, I want to write the bulk of it in November for National Novel writing month. But yeah, it's slow going for "R." since the bulk of my time is spent sleeping and working on making video games.
