The Evolution of Larry (part 2)

How did this game begin? It's time to look back in the history of this game. Someone in 2013 suggested doing a game about Black Friday. Searches turned up nothing about the whereabouts of the thread, but I can tell you that's truth, and why a game called "Larry the Lemon" has the binary file name bf34.bin. I found bf1.bin on my computer and instead of a lemon it has a multicolored sprite of a guy pushing a shopping cart. By bf4.bin, there was a little purple demon troll thingy as well as a present. The purple demon thing evolved into Barry the Banana. In version 7, the shopper was gone and Larry made his debut, along with Barry. So that's right, Larry was originally a guy pushing a shopping cart! I probably switched it because the multicolored player was hogging precious program space. Doing a game about a lemon required only one color. But even in those early builds from November 2013, the basic premise was already decided. So by bf11, there was the playfield like it is now, but the banana stops partway because of the way I was coding it. So I switched it and version 13 had squares to maneuver around. bf16 had a title screen, which, by the way, looks better than the one I have now. I had to get rid of the lemon at the title screen being a player because it was taking up too much space. Version 22 has the lemon made up of PFblocks and a longer song. The word "the" was made up of a player sprite and a few missiles making up the letter T. By bf24, the version looks a lot like it does now. The word "the" was changed into PFblocks. So just really minor adjustments were made, including shortening the song so I could fit other improvements into 2k. Here is the image of the very first build with the shopping cart guy with gray pants. It's not really that much of a stretch of having a guy wearing gray pants. Every time I go out, I wear black jeans.
