UHF Channels

So I have been browsing a site about UHF channels from the '50s-'70s. Portland was the home for the world's first UHF station, channel 27, KPTV which started in 1952. Back then, KPTV was on channel 27 and was an NBC affiliate. What I don't know is how many TVs in 1952 were equipped to go as high as channel 27 to receive. But then five years later, tragedy. KPTV was sold to some guy and moved to channel 12, where it is today. Not only that, Salem for a brief time, had a UHF station, between 8/4/53-3/29/54, Channel 24, KPIC was in Salem. The call letters KPIC though remained in Oregon where they are now used for a TV channel in Southern Oregon. The guy who started KWVT apparently has read on Salem's TV history since he also resurrected KVDO, which used to be the call letters for Salem's PBS affiliate which moved to Bend and was renamed KOAB in 1983. But it was on Channel 3. But anyway, back to the theme. I used the feedback thing (god forbid they want e-mails) to tell them I have a few pre-TV Guide magazines which have ads for channel 27 and if they were interested in it. I saw they had a whole section devoted to it, but none of the ads I want to scan for them are in it. The highest UHF channel ever was channel 83. Then after that, they trimmed it back so the highest one could be 69, and then again more recently which I didn't know about so the highest one was 51. I guess that's why KWVT moved to channel 17 after being on 52 for a few years. This site I bookmarked is http://www.uhftelevision.com
and it's really groovy.
