The ghost of celeries past

I'm back working on Celery's Challenge for the Intellivision. I dug my INTV out of my garage and hooked it up, and it still works. I made a 12th level last night and now I've made #13. The 13th one pushed me over the 16k limit. I'm now at 16.5k. And I added a new enemy: Ghost stalks. They're white stalks of celery. They have an unusual trait: They can go through walls. But they are just like vegetarians, on a fixed path, going back and forth. I think I'm going to use the ghosts more since they're easier to program. So I am wondering how many more levels I can fit in the game. If there are too few, I probably won't release it then. I think I'll go back and simplify the code so I can fit more levels in.

Hi, atari2600land,

I'm absolutely sure you can fit dozens of levels. 16K is not a limitation of the Intellivision, it's just the size of one of the ROM segments. The most common memory map supported for the Intellivision by cartridges is 42K big.

By the way, those "K"s are not Kilobytes like in other platforms. They represent "Kilowords," or 16-bit words each. In other words, when we say 42K ROM in the Intellivision world, we actually mean 84 Kilobytes.

There's plenty of space in there! :)
