Under one roof

So apparently the roofers are coming tomorrow to reroof our condo where I live. Mom wants me to be awake all the time they're there so I can help take care of the dog, who will probably be frightened by all the noises up on the roof. Any time the workers come to clean out the gutters, the dog gets all excited and starts barking, so I doubt all the noises of us getting a new roof would be good for her. I guess the cat will hide under my bed all the time. See, this is one of the reasons why I don't like pets: They're not intelligent enough to figure out that loud noises are a good thing, especially if you don't want a leak. We had a leak once in the den, it was not fun.

So anyway, Mom wants me to be awake all the time, but I just woke up at 2 a.m. after going to sleep at about 8 p.m. and began to work on the waffle project after my computer shut down and restarted mysteriously. I changed it so that pressing 1 at the title screen gets my finished original concept, while pressing 2 gets the "improved" version. I figured that if I didn't do this, there would be no need for an overlay. I put all the data into a new section of the code, $D000. The game works fine from what I can tell using my LTO Flash. I still need to add some more waves, though. And to do that, I need more wave ideas. And I need to put in lives. Hopefully I can fit it all in there.

After I did this, I tried to go back to sleep. I laid in my bed for a half-hour trying to sleep, but gave up and said "this is ridiculous and boring." I have a hard time going to sleep. It usually takes like a half-hour of laying there with my eyes closed and fan running before I actually fall asleep. So I guess Mom is out of luck. Or I am. Or something. But at least the waffle project is going good.

I think it is a survival instinct to be afraid of loud noises. I don't know that it has much to do with intelligence on their part as the house and its parts are a construction of humans... and, although we also have that same survival instinct, we understand that the shelter that we have constructed for ourselves is mostly safe. Just my thoughts. :)

Sleep is important for sanity. It can be difficult as a programmer to set things aside because your brain is constantly racing to figure out that next problem. Hahah.

I hope that the roof thing got worked out.
