Ants came back on the Jaguar
So I thought for some reason about the Jaguar. I guess it was reading that thread about the sd card cartridge that got me inspired. I decided to see what I could do with Ants, that game I was having trouble with. I switched the music player from the U-235 one which I was having major troubles and bugs with, to the Zeroplayer one.
The Zeroplayer works okay now, but unfortunately, all I can fit on there are about 10-20 second-long tunes. The Zeroplayer unfortunately does not do .mod files, so I had to make them .raw, which makes the music files much bigger. I must be so close to breaking the 1MB point. But I haven't yet.
And, after a whole bunch of trouble trying to make it work, I did eventually, though every sound was slowed down. So what I did was sped up the sounds so that when Zeroplayer played them, they would end up being normal. And there's even a .raw sound of complete silence needed for the options screen, but that's only 10kb.
But even though I got everything working, I still have a problem: The game displays a blank, black screen for like 7-10 seconds before the title screen is visible on the Virtual Jaguar emulator. And I don't know if it's just my hearing things, or if the in-game audio song is still playing very faintly when the game over music is playing? I don't know how one channel can play 2 songs at the same time, though.
Anyway, I'm anxiously awaiting to buy one of the SD card cartridges so I can test my game on a real Jaguar. But for now, I guess I should be happy that at least someone made a Jaguar emulator.
