Is that cable with analog or digital signals? I had thought that unless you specifically ordered a TV without tuner, it would still to this day take digital cable input, perhaps with an adapter. What did the people in the store suggest, that he gets a separate digital box that is connected to the TV through HDMI or whatever the kids use these days, and then point the remote to the digital box to switch TV channel?

He got a TV with an antenna hookup available. But there are not very many left, none if you want to go a 4k route.

Errr... My local television retailer (Costco) Has a shoot ton of 4k tvs available, and all but 2 have ant in.

Ugh, it's like everything has to be all HDMI ports making you buy converters & tuners. You don't even need HDMI for HD cable boxes since you can't get better than 1080i (through component cables). We may have to keep our old Non-smart TV's with the mulitple inputs the same way we're keeping CRT's for retro games.

I have seen setups now where your cable box plugs into one of the HDMI ports. The box itself still has the coaxel connection.
