Turmoil for Odyssey²

I actually started a game like Turmoil on the Odyssey² a few years ago. It was called Boney McBones. But since there was no interest in it, I dropped the project. Since it was on my old computer (anything pre 2016), it is gone forever since that old computer died. Fast forward to now. Someone on the Odyssey²/Videopac forums asked if it was possible to make a Turmoil game for the Odyssey² since it had similar lines.

Since I was about done with Jack and the Beanstalk, I was looking for something new to do for that console, so I decided to take a stab at the main screen. This is the result:

Doesn't it look just like the Turmoil screen? The person requesting it put a link to a homebrew game for the Colecovision called "Turmoil 2022". I based it on that. But I don't know if the original had 8 aisles or only 7 because the Atari 2600 version of Turmoil only has 7. If it has 8 aisles, it would be much better from a programming standpoint to make it easier to get a random place for an enemy to start. If I decide to work on this more, I probably won't call it "Turmoil." Something along the lines (no pun intended) of "Aisles of Terror" might work.

It's been about 19 hours and my internet hasn't gone down yet. Well, I was asleep for about 14 of those hours, but so far this morning the new modem is working fine.

Really a game called "Turmoil 2022" should include the Covid-19 virus and the heads of several politicians.

I think it'd be funny in a way if the entire built-in character set of the O2 came careening down those aisles...

If the game is as fast and furious as the 2600 game, using the Voice for audio cues when important baddies show up might help a lot...
