Interesting turn of events

This morning I went down to the unemployment office to find out what options are available to me at this time...

I walked out with two job applications put in...

When I went in, they informed me that Spherion was hiring for a warehouse position... That didnt start until 9, so while waiting, I updated my Illinois Skills match profile. When I started, there were no jbs listed for me. After I was done updating, there was one for the University of Chicago hospitals.

9 AM rolls around, and I see the recruiter. Warehouse positions. The recruiter asked me some questions regarding warehouse experience, and I told him I had none. He then asked what line of work I'm in, and I told him IT. He informed me of a position open in Romeoville. I filled out the application, and all the forms -- including displaced worker forms, tax forms (Exemptions, etc.), employment eligibility, direct deposit, and that sort of thing -- then I rushed home and emailed him my resume.

And here I am. I have about 7-8 more new jobs to apply for.

And I have to add an aside to all this...

I've been working my ass off to try to find a job. I haven't been sitting around here on my duff all day, surfing the internet and what have you all day long. I hAVE been putting some serious work into getting a job and perhaps upgrading my education. So don't think I've been lazy. That pisses me off.

I gotta run getmy daughter now. Don't expect me to post any more about this anywhere but here.

If you`re referring to the thread, try not to get pissed at people who give you good advice, because they`re your friends and just want to see you do well. If they`ve misjudged your reasoning for being out of work for so long, all you have to do is explain it. Nobody called you lazy or tried to insult you; it`s an excellent suggestion to just take whatever you can get in the meantime, and blunt honesty is one of the highest forms of compliment you can get (as opposed, for instance, to condescension).

You probably know all this, but, y`know....just in case.

I know. I tend to always take things the wrong way, as (you may have surmised) I don't have the world's highest self-image.

Well, break a leg. I know one of these leads will work out for you. Then, overnight, the future changes before your eyes. It`s pretty cool. (We`ve all gone through the whew-I-finally-have-a-paycheck thing.) :)
