PC Engine stuff!

Well... in about two weeks or so... I should be recieving my Region Free modded PC Engine Duo-R.

Thanks to a lot of suggestions to people on the forums, I ended up saving quite a bit of money by going this route instead of buying a US Duo. My PC Engine Duo-R is a bit more expensive then what you find on ebay persay, but that is because of the mods done to it. I can justify buying it, due to the fact that I can still play my US HU Cards without any issues. Also, with the cd based games being region free already.... I can have the best of both worlds. Along with my deal, I ended up spending a bit more for a big assortment of games on the PC Engine side. I don't know what all of the games will be, but I did buy quite a few $1 games and more.

I know I'll be happy with this investment compared to my Atari Jaguar investment. I find it rather comical that the guy that bought my Jag collection on ebay is selling it to get PC Engine items less than a month or so of getting it. LOL Oh well.

I will also be getting a Tennokoe Bank HU Card. I didn't eve know what that was, but I do now. All I know is it will be great to have in my collection once I start filling up the save area on the DUO. For those that don't know what they are: The Tennokoe Bank HU Card is a HU Cards that allows you to basically transfer all of the save block on a Duo to a save block/bank on the HU Card. You have 4 slots on the HU Card that you can fill. You can only save the entire block, not just certain game files. That kind of sucks, but oh well. I can't ask for everything!

I also got Street Fighter II CE (or at least I think it is the Championship Edition). Either way... I've heard a lot about this game and I'm looking forward to it. I'm not much of a SF II fan, but I've played it enough in the arcades to appreciate it. Should be loads of fun. I need to grab a copy of Poppolous (or whatever the spelling is) as well. :)

Well... I'll give a huge update and review sometime in the near future. I treated myself to this new 'toy' and I'm sitting here waiting around as though it is Christmas! :) Stay tuned for updates and reviews!

This is awesome Eric, congrats on the purchase.Am going down the same route in the next month or so myself and going Duo-R.

If you get a chance and dont mind send me some info on where you are getting your modded Duo-R am really curious about price and such.

My friend Zeta has SF2:CE for his Duo and its not bad at all also i would like to recommend to you Dracula X,it is the best Castlevania game in my personal opinion but it will cost you some cash but worth it.

You will find that JPN PC Engine games to be much cheaper for the most part and have a much larger selection of titles to choose from.

Good luck and keep us in the loop on your PC Engine adventures. :)

I got it from D-Lite over at the www.pcenginefx.com site. I've heard about him before and after you all mentioned grabbing a PC Engine DUO-R.... I went off and found the site.

I ended up paying $275 shipped for it. It is region free modded (Flip a switch or push the button), it has been modded for S-video.... and other stuff. I have a lot of the details... but I'll have to share them once my system comes in. Look for a PM tonight though so I can tell you more about some of it....

I'll keep you updated.

As for Dracula X... I'd like to play... but I'd more than likely play all of the expensive ones by copying the games/isos. The HU Cards are still a huge attraction for me. And some of those Jap HU Cards are beautiful!

I'm excited about the cd based games.... I just don't see cd based games being as collectable.
