Dreaming big

I hope to one day have something like one of the web's best places for videos, For Portlanders Only!, but for Salem. It is a very few select group in Salem that know that there's an over-the-air station called KWVT on channel 17, mainly for the fact that it's not on Comcast. I think the cable system in Brooks has it, and some other puny town's cable has it, but not Salem Comcast. Nuh-uh. They hate us because Comcast is evil. When I first read about then-channel 52 in the newspaper (they moved to 17 earlier this year), I said "Wow! An interesting concept. A Salem TV station!" So I shelled out $10 for an indoor antenna. At first, the transmission was weak, but earlier this year once they moved to 17, they souped up their transmission and now the signal is a lot better. So, what I'm saying is I want to put videos on my Salem, Oregon TV Historical Society page. They have locally produced ads. Like one for a restaurant called "The Blue Pepper", which has been airing for 2 years now, so I'll put it under the 2006 section, and this really hilarious (but not meant to be) one for the computer parts recycling plant. And then there's the mispunctuated KWVT ads themselves ("Thursday's at 12:30" one reads). It just irks me when someone does that. You don't need an apostrophe when something is plural! Oh well.

Nice to here that you watch KWVT and thanks for the info, we’ll try and make the change in the “Thursday’s” it soon. As to the rest we do run local programming when we can. We run High School Football for 3 seasons now. We run three locally produced music video show, we run Garden time very locally produced and Costal Gardner. KWVT sot and aired WCWC wrestling, BAW wrestling all local. We shot and aired the Festive of light and as this was aired as part of 36 hours of Christmas featuring Local high school choirs. All this on a VERY limited budget. If the Salem community would advertise to the 100,000 household that watch KWVT that money would apply to these and more local TV. These are the same advertisers that advertise on Comcast 50,000 households with no problem. Speaking of Comcast it is their choice NOT to put Salem and the Mid Valleys only local TV station on their system. It is not that they can’t get KWVT they have to since all emergency communication to Marion, Polk and Yamhill originate from KWVT even after many a call from viewers.

KWVT mission is to be Salem and the Mid Valley TV station and will continue to do so but when will Salem help KWVT.

Remeber we are local if you see something wrong e-mail us let us know.

Hey, it's Ken Lewetag from KWVT! What brings you here? I was just sharing my thoughts about KWVT here. So, do you have an Atari system? It's me, Chris (the guy you've been e-mailing back and forth with.) It's a shame Comcast won't add KWVT. I'm going to get a YouTube account very soon, I'm just deciding what user name I should have (I'm leaning towards salemoregon, if that's not taken.)

I run a search on KWVT every once in a while just to see what is out there and up came this blog.
