Still loving the 303!

Hi there!

I'm having trouble sleeping this night, so as usual I'm sitting around Youtubing. Tonights main search theme was the 303. I just love that machine ;)

Have a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XXbLTXwGic :music:

Can music get any better?

Greetings,

Manuel

Pretty colors.

Brings up a couple of questions... how much music could a 2600 cart hold? If you programmed a bunch of songs and visuals to play back on a 2600 (like an audio/visual album) - would people buy it?

I think some people would buy it, after all, some people have bought the Boing! demo.

If you used Paul Slocum's music driver or something similar, that packs the data pretty tightly - you could probably pretty easily get ~5 minutes of music in 4K plus a simple, flashy kernel.

So you could probably do something pretty cool in, say, 32K. ;)

The 303 does have a nice sound, though I feel it was a bit overused in the early 90's. I remember playing around with Rebirth and realising just how easy it was to create an average acid-house tune!

Hehe... they're all a bit samey, yes. I remember toying with Rebirth myself a bit, but when my brother and I finally had enough money to buy a real "virtual analog" synthesizer (=> A Nord Lead 2), we were too happy to ever look back. Amazing machine with lotsa knobs. And whatever you do with it, it always sounds cool ;)
