Hi there!
Another child of the 80's Ninja craze, here comes Yie Ar Kung Fu 2:
Well, this is yet another short entry, since the game is pretty shallow. It can't even be beaten, since after defeating the 8th boss the game just rolls, starting over from the beginning.
This is a very simple fighting game. You have a few jumps, kicks and punches, but basically you can beat all enemies just with the standard fist punch. And unfortunately the controls aren't too responsive. Before challenging the boss of each stage in a 1:1 fight, you have to cross three screens in a little dexterity contest, where some mini ninjas (dwarf ninjas?) walk and fly accross the screen, which you can either hit or evade (pictured above).
The bosses show some inspiration in design, but aren't stellar either.
Not much more to say about this. It has good music from Martin Galway and you probably already know that "Yie Ar" is some wordplay, it is sounding like counting one-two in chinese.
Some future day the "Playing..." series may see another fighting game, but first it will most likely return once again to the 3rd dimension.
Greetings,
Manuel
