Hi there!
Two fast ones in a row, of course a handful of Karatekas couldn't keep me busy for long:
Some clever programmer named Steve Bak once figured that there was no 16-Bit version of International Karate availble and so teamed up with artist Pete Lyon to create one.
Some clever publisher named Microdeal then bought a license for Karate Kid 2 to spice it up some.
Karate Kid 2 was the first of many 16-Bit Bak/Lyon games. Most of which were of dubious quality, but they all had pretty good graphics
It is one of their better ones, albeit not as superbly playable as the C64 International Karate. You fight a good dozen other Karatekas, with the usual 8+8 moves (with and without fire). The background graphics are varied, music nonexistant.
Just like International Karate, every two rounds are followed by a mini game, which is either smashing ice-plates with your hand, or catching a fly with chopsticks. The later being slightly more entertaining...
Well, the ending screen is rather lame:
Some future day the "Playing..." series may see another beat'em up, but first it will continue with a sports game.
Greetings,
Manuel
