Hi there!
Another Data East game from the "So bad it's good" category:
If there ever was something like a B-Game, than this is as close as it gets. Starting from the cheesy "Are you a bad enough Dude to Rescue the President" intro to the very end, this is one totally over the top trash-experience.
The gameplay isn't too different from the recently featured Robocop, which was made by the same team I think. It's another 7 sidescrolling levels, gone are the guns, but the jumping thankfully returned.
It's your typical ninja/karate brawler, with pretty bad graphics. Everything stutters, jitters or flickers. There's a few weapons to pick up, the occasional cola can to restore your health and an endboss at the end of each level.
Two stages play on top of driving vehicles, not unlike Express Raider, another Data East classic. After a pretty easy showdown battle on a helicopter, the president is safe again, rewarding you with a burger. Yay
Make no mistakes: I'm not recommending this! - Unless you're looking for another conversation piece in your collection to place next to Karnov. Then it is a must, since by some weird coincidence Karnov is the first endboss of Bad Dudes
Some future day the "Playing..." series may see another Data East Arcade in the form of "The Real Ghostbusters", but first it'll continue with something else.
Greetings,
Manuel
