Hi there!
Time for another SSI AD&D Goldbox experience:
After playing Pool of Radiance and Hillsfar on the NES, I decided to continue this series on the Amiga by a pure convenience driven choice: The Amiga version supports the mouse and it had an entire level 5 party sitting ready-to-go on the disk
As you may remember, Hillsfar was basically a tool for character training, so this is now the 2nd full blown RPG in the series. The story is pretty interesting: After being ambushed you awake in an inn, finding strange magical tatoos on your arms, the name giving "azure bonds".
These tatoos seem to be able to take control of your party members in certain situations, so your main goal is getting rid of them as fast as possible. So far it's been a promising start. After some troubles with authorities my guys visited the local thieves guild, which seems to have split into two parties fighting each other to the death. Forcing my way through their territory, I just entered the city sewers - business as usual
The turn based combat felt a bit better then in Pool of Radiance. When starting with reasonably equipped level 5 characters there's just a lot of things you can do already and it simply feels great to cast fireballs
The graphics on the Amiga certainly are a lot better as well now and the loading times experienced so far were tolerable.
Looking forward to explore more of the sewers tomorrow!
Greetings,
Manuel
