Walls
I'm working on a new Odyssey2 game, putting Super Giuseppe on the proverbial back burner. This one is going to have a title screen without a "SELECT GAME" screen (like GoSub). At first I had "TITLE" written on the screen. I needed to think of a five-letter title for the game (you'll see why when I have a coming out party for the game on January 1.) One that would describe the game pretty well. Then it came to me. What was on the title screen? Grid? No, that'd be pretty stupid. They were walls. So that is going to be the title screen. So I replaced "TITLE" with "WALLS." Actually, you can find what I have so far if you search my site thoroughly, but right now it's nothing much. I did some tests with a scoring system and I am fairly confident that what I intend for the game will work. With a name like Walls, I bet you're imagining something like K.C. Munchkin. I'll drop a hint of the game play. It's nothing like K.C. Munchkin. It's been snowing off and on this morning. Nothing sticking though except for on the grass. I was hoping it would stick but nope. Not cold enough. Either that or not enough snow. Or both. After yelling at my computer trying angrily to make the walls in level 3 of Super Giuseppe work, I've decided to try and do something simple, fitting in 2k, and yet fun enough to play. I hope Walls will be all three things. As for way out future plans, I hope to one day make a GoSub 2 with missiles you can shoot at the octopus. Odyssey2 gives you four sprites at a time to work with. Sub, torpedo, chest, octopus. Would work well. And this is why I'm thinking Walls would be cool, having four things on the screen at once. (another hint, perhaps?) Maybe more if I get one out of the characters into the action. Right now there are 5 characters in the game representing the letters "WALLS," along with 2 quads for the score. I'll have to make a scoring system so the score doesn't go past 9,999. Thinking aloud here, maybe the whole goal of Walls would be to reach 9,999. That would be interesting. So be prepared for Walls on January 1 (unless I forget.)
