A8isa (Steve) gave me great link to the SoftSide Publications magazine on http://www.trs-80.com/trs80-persoftside.htm, which is in PDF format. The site is about TRS-80 computers and everything concerning it, also great stuff. But for me, most interesting thing is mentioned magazine, which also includes articles and listings for other 8-bit micros. I hope you will enjoy it.

And thanx Steve

That's great -- thanks! I can fill in some gaps in my Softside collection.

I've been checking that site for a while now... Glad they finally uploaded the "newer" issues of SoftSide as Atari support only started in August 1980. There's an early Creative Computing mag as well!

You might want to check our database for some of the type-ins SoftSide had, there are a number of them you won't find anywhere else.

I'm looking for the Rotberg Synthesizer described in issue #34, vol.6 no.1.

Has anyone seen or heard of this program?

The article states that the program is on side B of the accompanying disk

XL Search led me to a demo of the program but I'm looking for a working copy.

Wow! These old SoftSide articles feel like a gift! :lust:

TIA

I have an .exe file around here somewhere called Rotberg. Could that be what you are looking for?

Don't know. I'm aware of a Rotberg Marquee program and the synthesizer. There are probably others.

Please email it to me at stephensheppard <at> hotmail D0T com and I will take a look.

Thanks!

  • 16 years later...

Another super-necro bump from team archivation ;)

@SoulBuster recently dumped an original disk of SoftSide #34 (1982-10) with Rotberg Synthesizer on side B.

I was surprised how heavily protected this disk is; particularly with regard to the fact that it is NOT the synthesizer but only a DEMO containing five pieces to listen.

But at least we can now enjoy Disco Dirge "in its natural environment". :)

It contains:

NEW COUNTRY            --  J. L. Ponty

Prelude & Fugue in Cm  --  J. S. Bach

BOLERO ( unfinished )  --  M. Ravel

Pokey Percussion       --  L. Actor

DISCO DIRGE            --  D. Pliskin
