Premiums Now Come with HDMI

Guys... if any of you don't have the means to grab the systems on a military post... feel free to contact me.

For example:

If you buy a PS3 here at the PX... it is $499 even. No taxes. You save quite a bit.

If you are looking for certain systems... let me know and I can research it for you. If anything... if you are in my area... I can always escort you on post so that you can get to the PX. A lot of people forget about the PX when they buy big ticket items. I know right now my PX has a lot of XBOX 360s that are the "Military appreciation packs" Lots of goodies and stuff included in it.

In some cases... even paying for it and having me SHIP the item to you... you will still save a bit of dough.

:)

Just a friendly reminder

Thats why I snagged my PS3 off Amazon.

$499.99. No tax. Free Shipping. 6 Free Blu-Ray Disks and a Free Remote.

You could do the same thing with a 360. The no tax savings on a purchase this big can buy a game or two.

It doesn't mention the size of the hard drive being increased. I bet it's still 20 gig.

I would imagine you are correct. The premium 360 has always had a 20gb hd. Plenty of space if you are only playing games. If you are DLing movies and other stuff, you might be better off springing for the Elite. So far the Premium has had plenty of space for my needs.

The premium is 20 Gig, The Elite is 120 Gig, the size of the HD hasn't been changed, the addition of HDMI ports on premium units has nothing to do with the HD.

I had read that when the Elite was introduced that it would be a limited run. After they were "gone" the Premium would have the Elite features (including the 120 gig hard drive) and HDMI port. Sounds like plans have changed. The Elite must be selling pretty darn good.

Shows how much I pay attention. I didn't know about that. No tax and no shipping on Amazon? WOW

I do remember some folks reporting that. I'm pretty sure it was "breaking" news that their sources had uncovered. It seem to me they were reporting the Elite was limited to 100,000 units and once they sold out the premiums, would start showing up with the HDMI port and 120 Gig. So either the Elite sold so well they made more and changed their mind. The Elite is selling poorly and they haven''t gotten rid of the 100,000 yet or the story was BS. I wonder are there Elite sales figures anywhere?

Strike one against Microsoft: Due to the ENORMOUS connector for the component A/V cables included with the system, I cannot plug in the HDMI cable at the same time. This means I cannot get audio output if I use the HDMI cable, since I do not have an A/V receiver with HDMI inputs. I was going to use the optical out that's on the A/V connector but that's a no-go since I can't plug both cables in at the same time. Pure genius. :(

Strike two: Wi-Fi is not built in (I knew this going in) and there's no easy way for me to get wired ethernet into this room. So I'm going to have to share net access on the Mac Mini I have in here (which is connected to my network through wireless) and then plug the Xbox into that. They are crazy if they think I'm going to spend $100 on that wireless adapter.

Not sure how the ports are on the new system, but the Elite model, I have no issues setting mine up like you are describing using the cables that came with the system. In fact they line up perfectly. I'll attach a picture. How do these new premium models differ??

Also the wireless adapter can be found cheaper then $100. I picked up one for like $65 off Amazon from a seller. There's one for sale on there now for $69.99. (Still not cheap, I know)

Hmm - that AV cable doesn't look like it has optical out on it, which my fatter one (an original Mk1 Premium cable) here does. Maybe thats the difference. What's that lump farther down the cable, does it breakout there?

That would suck if I couldn't use HDMI with a separate optical out :( I was thinking of picking up an Elite and giving my 360 to my gf's nephew.

When the 360 can be hooked up wirelessly, I will buy it. It's plain bullshit that the DS can be wireless without anything extra and the 360 can't.

No doubt it was to save $$$. ]

It doesn't bother me so much that they didn't include it, in that they give gamers a choice for those that aren't interested in paying a little extra for it standard.... but $99.99 retail for the adapter is BS. Should have been $39.99 at most.

Yeah, my DS, Wii, and iPhone all have built-in Wi-Fi. So does the PSP. A $350 console certainly should have it as well, but it's obvious that Microsoft saw dollar signs in selling extremely overpriced peripherals. Strike Three for Microsoft is that hooking this up through the ethernet via my Mac Mini is a royal pain in the ass:

This should simply work. It works for every other device I've ever done this with, but not the 360, not without doing the above steps (which I'm working on now). Not impressed so far.
