cas
ABBUC Special "Games Convention" Webpage with lots of pictures and videos Video Report from a Nederlands TV station with an interview with the ABBUC Floppy Doc ABBUC and Atari 8bit was mentioned in german and european press coverage about the Games Conventions 2008. The ABBUC Atari 8bit Booth was always full, even on the days reserved for 'trade visitors' Games Convention is 'huge' compared with regular Atari Scene Events: * Exhibitors: 547 (2007: 503) * Space occupied: 115,000 sqm (2007: 112,500 sqm) * Visitors: 203,000 (2007: 185,00) * Trade visitors: 14,600 (2007: 12,300) * Media representatives: 3,800 journalists from 48 countries (2007: 3,395 from 46 countries) It was really nice to see that even against the 'competition' of 'modern' game devices (PS3, PC, XBOX, Wii), the Atari 800 XL machines were used by young (10-25) gamers playing classic games like PacMan, Space Invaders, Centipede, Pole Position and modern 'classics' like YOOMP!. Bunsen
Every day we started a videogame championship ("Deutsche Meisterschaften" - German championship) in different games. The players had to play 15 minutes this game. Highest score at the end of the day is the "German champion". (Sometimes it wasn't a german: 2nd day Space Invaders: 1st Austria, 2nd Poland, 3rd Poland, 4th Austria, 5th Japan). 1st day: Pac-Man 2nd day. Space Invaders 3rd day: Pole Position 4th day: Centipede 5th day: Yoomp! Every day more then 40 people took part in this event - and had a lot of fun. Some kids stayed for hours at our old machines...

twh/f2
WOW! This is by far the most professional fair presence / event of the ABBUC EVER!!! The pictures looked great!!! Why didn't you announce the GC last week here in this forum? Would have loved to be in Leipzig as well !! and in german: Ich bin vollkommen fasziniert von all den tollen Bildern, Videos, den vielen vertrauten Gesichtern und vorallendingen den unglaublich interessierten Besuchern. Die Glasbox hat mich an die Kaufhäuser in den 90er Jahren erinnert, unglaublich schön!! Also Jungs, Gratulation!!
Mathy
Hello Guys Video Report from a Nederlands TV station with an interview with the ABBUC Floppy Doc Sorry, ADtv is not a Dutch TV station. It's a videoservice provided by the internetsite of a big newspaper. These video's are only shown on the internet, not on TV. Greetings Mathy
Heaven/TQA
twh, it was announced on the ABBUC website... I missed it, too. even I was there at the GC 3 days but most of the time I was in the business center in hall 1.
FlorianD
Whose XLD??? That "XLD" belongs to Beetle and is homemade too, as is his XL Laptop. Both, the Laptop and the XLD stirred massive interest at the visitors. Even the Senoir Vice President from ATARI France who visited us was astonished. And so were the two guys from EA and the one from Activision. We were glad to welcome them all at our booth and show them that ATARI is far away from being forgotten. Heaven/TQA
Florian, aehm... just in case... the business term for "Presse Sprecher" is not "press speaker" but instead I would vote for "PR manager"... or "Public Relations"...
twh/f2
Florian, aehm... just in case... the business term for "Presse Sprecher" is not "press speaker" but instead I would vote for "PR manager"... or "Public Relations"... Heaven, du meinst bestimmt "Pressesprecher" oder? :-) Diese Auseinanderschreiberitis muss man wohl verzeihen, wenn man ständig mit Englisch zu tun hat hehe.. grtx, \twh ---- and still. I'm disappointed that the Abbuc-GC event was so badly announced/made public in advance. Just to announce it at the Abbuc forum is a bit weak, especially for those not being members/reading it frequently.
