Heaven/TQA
Cze Miker, as you are a RMT - Jochen Hippel Master... can you remember my request some years & time ago regarding the Thalion Intro msx... http://home.wtal.de/gmb/Hippel/MadMaxMidi.zip is there a chance to convert the Thalion Intro to RMT??? (unfortunatly it is not the full one... I guess the c64 sid version had a extended version of the tune...) pleeeeease...

Heaven/TQA
are you sure that the main voice is correct when comparing to the ST? but it kicks ass!
Heaven/TQA
and interesting... my 130xe plays the song different than RMT 1.26 and RMT 1.27 with alternative pokey emulation... ?
miker
Ok, i'm not sure too... Meanwhile. Second version! Sounds a bit better (i think). RMT & xex file. thalion2.zip thalion_xex.zip Edited November 24, 2008 by miker
Heaven/TQA
better!
miker
It seems that when 15kHz filter is enabled playing note higher than D-4 without hand-tuning causes total disaster to other sounds. Still far form perfect but... hehe
Tezz
Good old Mad Max Great stuff as always Miker

Tezz
http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=yXokFFlROfM regarded as one of his best work I miss the good old times with the ST group coding and drawing all night .. all day .. then all night again. those were the days. we continued with the ST scene even after finally getting the money to buy our first Amiga in 1988
Heaven/TQA
Tezz, which group were you member of? I can only remember The Lost Boys from UK... and one of the Moss brothers is still in senior position at Sony Studios (see credits for Gods of War on PS2 f.e. esp. lead programmer... ) not bad at all... http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=kxIWg3Tn7As&...feature=related Edited November 24, 2008 by Heaven/TQA
Heaven/TQA
for me best Mad Max tunes: Thalion intro msx (esp. the SID-version), Wings of death, Enchanted Land (main menu), Amberstar intro and Dragonflight.
Tezz
Tezz, which group were you member of?PAW, The Alliance and did some things for other groups too. We were going to join up with a French group at one point but they ended up just taking our code and using it themselves. I remember them writing to us saying something like "thanks for the code and ideas, we've taken them and made them our own so we don't want to give you our version back" then they sent a disk with not only our routines but our graphics and logos changed for their use seems funny now to look back but at the time the break of trust was not cool I can only remember The Lost Boys from UK... yea those guys rocked. There were quite a few groups and guys here. Was not was (Rob-C), Inner circle, some of the Automation guys i think?, The Pompey Pirates... those are ones that spring to mind ...I guess actually thinking back now a lot were more cracking and disk swapping guys.. well they did some nice intros and disk menus though ...and one of the Moss brothers is still in senior position at Sony Studios (see credits for Gods of War on PS2 f.e. esp. lead programmer... ) cool I didn't know that! I would guess they would be still around in the modern scene.

Heaven/TQA
I guess I left him a message here: http://timmoss.blogspot.com/ and best is that he feels not ashamed and credited all of his work...
Tezz
An interesting read. Yet another UK guy who defected to the States for the modern games industry
Christos
Madmax on pokey . Interesting... why the thalion intro? Should we expect NSP XE? One of my favourite madmax tunes is the 2nd tune of "A prehistoric tale"
emkay
Mikers tune via the patched RMT and some minor changes.... just for testing miktune.zip
emkay
Explanation: 1. some sweep sound for a better start 2. Generator 2 is handled wrong in the original RMT. 3. Breaking the "channel overlap problem" sometimes it helps to add generator C or E in 15kHz (sounds at the end of the tune)
Heaven/TQA
not bad MK & Miker... I really love that song...heard it 10000x since 1990... Thalion rules! Sad that Jochen Hippel is not in the scene anymore...
miker
Yeah! I've forgotten about the patched version of RMT (in fact i never realized what's was patched before, now i know - thanks emkay! ) Here's another trial. This version is made by loading the previous one into patched RMT (and transposing "2-generator" a bit of course), but i tried to make it sound better and ran it two times every one VBL. And here's the result: thalion_p2f.zip
Heaven/TQA
love the sweep sound.... reminds me The German Chaotics...
