Dryfter
After a little discussion, a request was made to consolidate all free offers into one post. Instead of having the list in the middle of this FANTASTIC thread which was started by therealred5, we decided to move it here. I have volunteered to maintain this list (yes I'm a little crazy!). Please let me know if the list is not accurate, meaning the item you offered at one point is no longer available and I will update it. Here are the "guidelines" (adopted from the previous thread): 1 - If you claim something from the list, you must offer something to the list for anyone else to claim. 2 - Please do all claiming and offers in this thread and I will update the list accordingly. 3 - When you claim an item, you work out shipping with the "offerer" (through PMs please) 4 - When an item is claimed, please post to this thread and I will update the list. 5 - It is recommended that you choose items from this thread which you can update your personal collection with. 6 - HAVE FUN!!! Please be descriptive as to what you're offering...item, system it's for, completeness. I sorted the offers by system for easier browsing! The system name is in bold, followed by the offers for items that go with that system. In order to keep the list manageable, I've removed the claimed items. Thanks to everyone who has put items up for offer so far! My disclaimer. I'm just the list updater, I do not want to act as a middle man for deals. Please contact the "giver" directly when interested in an item as well as posting here! Red 5
Nice job! When I created the original thread, I forgot to add one thing... Let's not judge what others post as freebies. If someone is cool enough to put up Tapper, it's still okay if the taker puts up Sonic the Hedghog 2. Try to offer something equal if you can, but there is no rules about this. Give what you can, as long as it's video game related. It's a karma thing, and that's it. Only feel good, peace, pot and frisbies posts please. By the way, Bridge and Space Invaders are long gone, but I will up the ante in celebreation of the new thread ... NES system (no cables) OR a Dreamcast system. Taker pays shipping. the.golden.ax
I have a problem with Rule #5. Kindly, who made you judge and jury? I'm nothing if not honest about my duality of intrests. I am not only a hardcore collector, but also a reseller. I give plenty of free stuff away and I plan to partisipate unless others here feel somehow limiting the number of free things is a good idea. Since your first PM to me was in my opinion a nutty anti-reseller post followed by an appology, I figured some how you got burned by a reseller at some point in the past. I still bought from you. Yay, only 11 more Gen1 games needed for my collection. THANKS! Whatever the issue you have with resellers is, rest assured, you can not assume to know what is in the heart and core of each person and presume to put a label and group based on a few observations. I say we are all even unless anyone ever has a reason to state otherwise. Your ideas AX

djpubba
I also object to #5. If I get something I need to sell off here I'm selling it regardless of rule #5 (even though I doubt I will since I don't sell games often). So long as I offer a worthy freebie in return I will feel no guilt breaking rule #5. This is basically a barter thread anyway, not a freebie thread. A freebie requires no compensation of any sort in return or it's not free.

shadow460
This is what I have left: 2600: Atari pic Pac-Man 2 day scene label Atlantis carts Fast Food w color label and handle Saturn: Command & Conquer GDI disc, instructions, and back jewel insert. Everything else has been traded off. Suggestions: change rule #5 to say something like, "I recommend choosing items from this thread which you can update your personal collection with." Allow users to ask for multiple items posts in exchange for a larger item. Users would be free to follow or ignore these suggestions, but at least the ideas have been put in their heads. Christophero Sly
3 - When you claim an item, you pay shipping for the item (work this out with the offerer please!)I thought the idea from the original thread was that shipping is paid by the individual offering the item, and then the individual who claims the item pays to ship the item that they subsequently offer. That would seem to be less hassle all around. And why pad Paypal's profits? As far as resellers not being allowed... having someone turn around and sell something for profit that they got for free in this thread obviously violates the spirit of this whole endeavor. STGuy1040
I don't plan on reselling any of the items that I've claimed from this thread, but if people are paying shipping for these items then I don't see the harm in people reselling some of the stuff (i.e. resellers). Just my 2 cents. I read the rules before posting, though, so it's up to the OP to clear the air on this. Edit: I'm keeping my eye on this thread! If I see anything else I'll post more items. Well someone who offers a system or heavy item may have to pay 10 x what a cd would cost to send... it make sence that the claimer pay the postage only. Perhaps I have gone too far here with the reseller issue, but wanted to point out the folly of the issue of banning anyone. There are other threads to discuss your personal feelings on reselling, and the definition of what that is. Perhaps we should take it there? Atari Age forums are a community, no one should be banned without specific cause of an infraction against all things good. It's the moderaters job to decide that isn't it? Example, Ive bought dozens of Genesis games this week for my collection, some were duplicates, and better than some that I bought off this very forum. The worse copies will be sold off. It doesn't mean I should get stamped with a red letter, and made to sit on the side and watch you guys have the fun. AX

Captain Beard
C'mon folks, let's all play nice. Rule is a bad word. I think the spirit of the thing should be that you shouldn't be taking a freebie just to resell. In other words, no flipping. But if you get something for free and then later score a nicer one, or no longer need or want it, of course you are free to do whatever the heck you wish with it. We certainly don't need to be policing it unless someone is actively abusing it (which seems impossible, since we could all just stop giving free stuff to anyone we didn't like. Nyah. ) As for this being a "barter" thread, not a "freebie" thread -- I disagree. This isn't meant for trading -- it's meant for sharing. Folks really oughtn't be exchanging stuff one-on-one, IMO (plenty of places to do that already) but they should be replacing what they take, dig? By way of example, my dad used to tell me tales of his childhood barber shop wherein they had a giant table loaded with comic books. But the barber never actually bought any comics, apparently -- the neighborhood kids just exchanged their own comics for the ones on the table, leaving new choices for the next kid. Seems to me that's the vibe we ought to be shooting for. (And it certainly doesn't hurt that apart from the good karma, it's a heckuva great way to get rid of your clutter...) As for shipping charges, I think that should be up to the giver to determine. It's not like anyone is gonna be forced to take something if the shipping costs are too high -- this isn't an eBay contract. I'm more than happy to eat a couple bucks shipping a single 2600 cart (and my job takes me to the post office almost daily anyway, so it's no trouble in that regard), but other stuff is heavy and postage and gas ain't cheap, so why quibble? the.golden.ax
I think that the discussion should stay right here. I just feel bad bringing a mess to a new fresh clean thread, that's all. Agreed, that blatant "flipping" and the spirit of the thread should be upheld. My point was only that prejudice, and segregation based on an individuals opinion shouldn't be taking place here or anywhere. I didn't mean to start anything AX
