Spreading the love with Free Games and more! - The remake

Dryfter

Recommended Posts

Food Fight XE has been claimed.

Thats correct, thank you :D

I in turn will post 2 different goodies to choose from. One person could claim both if they want but I'd rather spread the love:

(1) A loose 7800 Desert Falcon with a perfect label

(2) A loose Pick Axe Pete for Odyssey 2

Desert Falcon is tested and working. It came from a lot I just picked up this week from Kijiji. The Pick Axe Pete is not tested, but it looks to be in great shape.

Hey, where'd you get that desert falcon!? ;)

I'll put up some INTV games tonight if I get around to it :)

i will take desert falcon if its still available.

i will put up out of this world/helicopter rescue for odyssey 2

Alright, this is going in one lot. I have the following in a box, all seem to have labels. Most are worn however. All are for the Atari 2600.

Air Raiders, Armor Ambush, Asteroids, Atlantis, Barnstorming, Berzerk, Boxing, casino, Centipede, cosmic arc, defender, demon attack, ET, Frogger, chopper command, Ms. pac-man, pac-man, Pitfall, reactor, space invadors, venture, kaboom, keystone kapers, missle command, video pinball, star voyager, space war, speedway II, target fun, super breakout.

This is going to go a collector, I would not like to see these sold.

Here's an idea. Why not somehow include the wanted posts into this as well.If you see someone with a want, offer to send it for free as long as they fulfill another wanted request or offer something else free?

Of course, since I'm suggesting it (just like a free thread I tried starting AWHILE BACK ) ,this idea will probably get ignored or completely shat on :( :( :(

Ah yes, you are right ^_^

And thanks, they have been sitting around taking up space, its better off to someone else who will play them.

I'm working on an atari mod and fixing up my pinball machine, I will post a few more contributions later. When brainstorms hit you, you need to do them immediately!

PM sent! :)

I'd like to add the following Intellivision games to the thread as a package:

Astrosmash - Cart, box and manual are all ok. Overlays are very good.

Boxing - Cart and box are good. Manual is waterstained. Overlays are bent.

Donkey Kong - Cart and manual nice. Box is rough. No overlays made for DK.

Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack - Cart and manual are ok. Box rough. Overlays are worn but not bent at all.

Reversi - Cart is great. Box shows some wear but is in good shape. Manual is good. No overlays.

Vectron - Cart works fine. Label has light spots. Manual is kind of rough on the back page. No box or overlays.

CLAIMED! :)

Of course, since I'm suggesting it (just like a free thread I tried starting AWHILE BACK ) ,this idea will probably get ignored or completely shat on :( :( :(

I don't think it is a bad idea to have a wanted/wish list in this thread. This would make it more obvious what sorts of items are in demand and give a better idea of what we should offer up to keep this thing going. The wanted list would certainly need to be separate from the freebie listing to eliminate any confusion as to what is available.

On the other hand, I suspect that maintaining the freebie list is already quite a job for Dryfter. Maybe participants could post wanted items at the bottom of their offering posts... this way each individual could come back and modify his own wanted listing as requests are filled?

... Looking at your original thread, I don't think anyone meant to crap on your idea. I think they were just having a little bit of fun joking around in the forum. Then the thread simply got lost underneath the heap of newer threads that were posted.

ok, I think we're all updated.

I think the trying to incorporate the wish/want list is a cool idea but I'm not sure the best way to do it. There's already an section for wanted stuff. Trying to maintain it here would be very difficult for me (sorry). It's a good thought though!!

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread so active.

if i want to take a bunch of stuff, can i offer 1 thing? its a broken 4switch atari.

cn i get:

katamari:ps2" i really need"

32x stuff

geny stuff

nes stuff

2600 stuff "i really need

coloeco thiny

We'll the guidlines say that if you claim an item, you put up an item, so for each item you would like to claim, you need to put something else up.

It would also be nice if you put something up that worked :) haha

ok, ill post a unknow laptop battery, a genises game case, a atari joystick, and american 1998 godzilla movie for et, ms pac man, the colco head to head thingy, and maybe the dream cast bundle thing?

In the spirit of the thread, I think it would be nice to take one item and offer one item.

To use an analogy, everyone gets free candy on Halloween, but nobody likes the kid

that grabs a giant handful instead of respectfully taking one.

There are no real rules other than take something and offer something, but perhaps let your morals guide you.

"Unknown laptop battery" is not really a video game related item. And an empty Genesis Game case is really pushing the

envelope a bit.

But like I said, let your conscience guide you.

I was under the impression the Dreamcast bundle was claimed by someone?

The idea behind this thread is to post something good and usable for another collector and that person in turn ships something good and usable to another, etc. Its a "pay it forward" ideology. I realize you're new yoshilime but it seems you're coming here trying to claim several things from several people at once and in turn offer items of little value and most aren't even video game related, primarily atari. Godzilla movies and laptop batteries certainly don't qualify, a genesis case is borderline. The only thing anyone here might value is the joystick. But that itself certainly isn't worth all you're asking for.

But lets say the DC bundle was available. Do you really think you should claim this and offer a joystick to the community in return? Hardly seems right does it. Value for value within reason. If you claim and item that in real world value is worth $10 then you should in good conscience offer something worth $10 or two $5 items, etc. But they should be video game related otherwise this just becomes an atariage dumping ground of useless junk. No offense, not that your items are junk. But this is a video game site and its video games we trade.

I hope you aren't offended by this post yoshilime, but you're new here so I thought I'd try to be of assistance. Please read the first post of the thread for the general guidelines and rules for the freebie thread. This is a great community and this thread was created as a way to give back and help other collectors and get a small goodie in the process. It helps everyone and makes you feel good that you can offer something that another collector would enjoy.

:)

PS - Since "therealred5" started the original freebie thread, I think his input is important. This is part of his post from the first page:

Try to offer something equal if you can, but there is no rules about this.

Give what you can, as long as it's video game related.

It's a karma thing, and that's it.
