Wow, i don't think i would have sold that, for any reason. I have a pretty good start but i need to get new pics which i'll be doing over the next day or two, then i'll post here.

Wow, dunno if I could part with that much to a set. I'm at 29 CIB games and 3 loose carts. I actually just picked up Meteorites CIB today, like new for $5 with several other games at a local game store. It's too late to part with my system, games, or accessories at this point. I'd like to create my own little arcade stick for the system after graduation and once I've cleaned up my cocktail arcade in the garage a bit. Any plans on gathering those games back?

Here is my collection... I stand my 5200 a bit differently and now it takes little desk space. Makes a good backdrop behind my laptop too.

I actually just picked up Meteorites CIB today, like new for $5 with several other games at a local game store.

 

Nice find! I rarely see any classic games, let alone 5200 carts around here.

Yeah, well they tend to look for cheap auctions where ever they can get bulks. Who knows if the boxes they had are from local deals or shipped from across the country. Some of the older games they just say screw it, don't research individual prices and instead count the games and average them to a sell price that'll turn a good profit. So They win until the cheap, crappy games are left and no one will pay the $x for them, which at the point drop to B2G1F at $1 each or something crazy to get rid of them.

 

The other weekend I went by an hole-in-the-wall auction place in a down-hill neighborhood and while walking through the stacks and lines of items there were some nice lots. Some boxes were stacked with old, CIB console and computer games. Saw a few boxes with old magazines (one full of hentai), computer parts, and so forth. I was really tempted to stick around, but had no cash and it was a work night. So places like that I wouldn't doubt they visit as I've seen many local game store owners at pawn shops, thrift stores, and flea markets before trying to buy up cheap merch before I could.

 

And to get back on topic, I plan to post a picture this afternoon after I've finished a class assignment and before I begin working on a term paper.

 

So I just took some quick pictures and attached.

Nice collection there cyber. I notice you have some Turbo games like Keith Courage and Galaga 90. What system do you use to play these. I have a 5200 collection myself but won't be able to post pics till January. Too much holiday stuff in the way now

Thanks. I play TG stuff on my Turbo Duo. It's exotic in these parts so Galaga '90 was bought online while the rest were local finds. No CD games yet; I'm planning to get some down the road. Due to space constraints the Duo along with many other consoles are not hooked up. There's a 6-port AVI/S-vid box at the top for regulation of the DVD/VHS player, LD/CD/Karaoke player, Saturn, and Dreamcast while the RF input on the TV has the Atari 5200 plugged in for channel 3 while the NES and Master System adaptors can be connected and chained, comming in on channel 4. The future plan is to get a new bigger TV or projector when I move out for the AVI/S-vid/HDMI/Component systems to hook up to while leaving my smaller CRT elsewhere for classic gaming on systems like the VCS, PAM, NES, and SMS.

No worries. I started with the couple of loose carts I still own (Centipede, Pac-Man, and Dig Dug) and a non-working launch 5200 controller that was beaten up a bit. The controller was gutted because the wiring and POTs are still good, so with some imagination I could use it for a new controller or customized as an arcade stick of some sort.

Good call. Thats what i use is a Turbo Duo. Damn things are hard to come by tho. I do have a few cd games including Vasteel, Exile, and Exile II. I wish i could get to all my 5200 stuff to get the pictures but everythings buried right now. At this time, i don't have any boxed games but my system is complete in box and i have 15 loose games. I ever get my dedicated game room, i can spread everything out and set everything up.

Under normal conditions, my space is set up the same way but i ended up moving my big tv and two other smaller sets in front of my shelving so we could put our tree up so now everythings squeezed together .Next month, i'll be able to set up better until we move to another place where i'll have a true dedicated game room.

To me, ebay is a horrible way to find out what somethings worth. Total ripoff. Asw for what its worth, i'm not 100% sure but i offered $1000.00 to a guy awhile back for the same setup but i decided to do other things with my money at the time. Very nice rig though.

5200 modded for s-video output by Longhorn Engineer. It looks amazing. Most plasmas are 16:9. It was hard to find one that was 4:3. Also looks amazing.

I am cleaning my office and remembered this thread, so posed the 5200 and accessories for a shot. I have all my games shelved in storage boxes with the printed-out inserts that are still available here on AA somewhere. This is a good solution for someone who can't afford boxed games, like me! I own all the released titles, and there's some homebrews/etc. scattered around the bottom there. Wico sticks, refurb stock sticks, Masterplay interface, 2600 adapter, trackball, etc. This is the 2-port that is in use. The box at top has a 4-port in it. I might just sell that--it takes up a lot of room.

Really nice setup thegameguy101, though I don't know how well the controls feel; mind expanding the gameplay features of that rig?

 

S-video sounds like a nice way to go, but on a pixelated screen just doesn't appeal to me. djpubba, have you ever hooked it up to a DLP or 30-40" CRT?

 

phaxda, are those custom shelves or something up at the store? I know a few others on forums have a few online stores they get units from, some working out really nice with items like DS and long-box cases from the 90's.
