Spazmonkey
Pm me if you have it, thanks. All I'm looking for is the console, hookups, and two controllers. Hookups not necessity. Edited January 31, 2009 by Spazmonkey
Stan
I don't believe any of them are compatible with ALL games. I don't think it ever happens that way. Mine is compatible with most other than Tigervision. There are some I haven't tried, but Robot Tank WILL work with it.
Spazmonkey
Really? I was reading the FAQ, and it said that consoles manufactured during 1984 featured full compatibility. http://www.atariage.com/7800/faq/index.html#cat3_3
Stan
Hmmm, I'm probably wrong then. I thought I remember someone mentioning that to me when I was curious about Tigervision carts. My mistake.
Underball
Mine is fully compatible. IT's from 1987. The incompatibility with 2600 games thing is vastly overstated. It's not as common as that. There were a few runn-offs of them that had issues, but the vast majority are just fine.
Stan
So on even some models Tigervision cartridges will work?
superdevil
So on even some models Tigervision cartridges will work? Mine dates from 1987, and the Tigervision games play fine. However, on games that use the paddle controller, the cursor just flashes left to right making the games virtually unplayable.

I have a 7800 from 1987 and 2600 cartridges like Breakout that require the paddle controllers will work if paddles are connected to the joystick port. Track balls will also work and so will classic Atari joysticks as 2600 cartridges don't need the second fire button on 7800 controllers. There were some European Atari game pads made for the 7800 and a light gun.
Stan
Those pads are wicked keen. I tried to find them for awhile but never did. I'm happy with just my 2600 anyway.

ApolloBoy
The incompatibility with 2600 games thing is vastly overstated. Agreed, mine is also a 1987 model and it plays "incompatible" games like Robot Tank just fine.
