Rom Hunter
This has been bothering me for many years now: Was there really a company called Artic or Arctic, releasing the following two VCS titles: Space Robot Astrowar If so, is there a cart or box carrying the Artic / Arctic brand known to exist? I know Dimax / Sinmax released these two titles: http://www.atarimania.com/lst_soft-MENU-2-...UR_ID-2310.html But what the hell is Artic or Arctic? Does it only exist on old lists? Rom Hunter
Guess that pretty much sums it up. Thanks.
fiddlepaddle
This has been bothering me for many years now... Until you mentioned it, I was fine. Now, though, the worrying is keeping me up at night!
Omegamatrix
But what the hell is Artic or Arctic? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arctic Glad I could help, Rom.
Rom Hunter
... In old lists, the two Artic or Arctic titles carry (SiMax) serial numbers. Furthermore, according to DP Artic was planning a rumored Space Hero for the VCS and released Devil Fish and Mars for the Arcades, while Arctic 'released' Astrowar, Space Robot and Defender (?) for the VCS. deathtrappomegranate
There was a UK software company called Artic. It produced, among other things 1K Chess for the ZX81. I'm pretty sure that those guys didn't release any VCS stuff, though.

Keatah
I seem recall it being ARTIC, and this thread which referenced this thread seems to show an ARTIC manual. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/283540-weird-defender-manual/ Edited October 2, 2018 by Keatah
Swami
I seem recall it being ARTIC, and this thread which referenced this thread seems to show an ARTIC manual. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/283540-weird-defender-manual/ "For The Artic Video Game System." Sounds like maybe a short lived substitute for Sears over in Europe. Kind of like CBS Games for ColecoVision and, currently, Hama for Mayflash in Europe. If you remember a device called GoGo TV, produced by Manley, they had a company in France selling them to Europe called Smoby. I've seen internet references to "Artic Software", "Artic Computing" and Artic Electronics in the UK. Best I can tell, as an actual word, it is slang for "articulated."
