+Random Terrain
Just get the VGA cable and plug into the VGA port on the monitor. If you hook your computer up to it with a DVI cable then you can actually have both hooked up at the same time and switch between them simply by hitting the source button. I think you would be hard pressed to find a quality difference between the VGA and HDMI output. I use HDMI on my high-def cable box and VGA on my 360 to the same high-def projector and I think both provide a great picture. Just make sure you set your 360 to use your native resolution. The 360 should look great on that display. Thanks. That's better than what the Best Buy person was talking about. . . I downloaded the manual for my monitor and now that I see what a DVI cable looks like and how it works, I can't use a DVI cable with my computer. There is no place to plug in a DVI cable. I'll have to find the cheapest way to hook the Xbox 360 into the DVI input on the monitor and use VGA for the computer.
Atarifever
I dont really know much about those Arcade units. I'd probably wait for an HDD and load it up. You'll be fine with the 20 GB drive. I had like 90 Arcade games, game saves and game expansions (Oblivion, Crackdown, Marvel Ultimate Aliance etc....) When I made sure all the demo's and videos were deleted from the HDD, I still had like 5 GB. Thanks. Now that I've had some sleep, I think I'll try more of these games. Mass Effect, here I come. Make sure you play until you can get in your spaceship and just fly around. Up until then, the game is pretty meh.

Monoprice makes awesome cables and they have these. A 6' cable is $3.56: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product....=1&format=2 A 10' cable is $4.92: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product....=1&format=2 A 15' cable is $6.26: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product....=1&format=

You will still need your regular cable that came with your 360 for the sound outputs. I don't see any reason why that HDMI->DVI cable wouldn't work. It works with DVD players and one reviewer said they were using it with their PS3. The 360 uses a standard HDMI port so the cable should work the same as it would on any other HDMI device. I have a little more info on this now. Here is someone confirming that this cable works: http://www.command-tab.com/2007/09/16/xbox...i-audio-output/ He got his cable from Newegg and costed more but you will get a better cable for less from Monoprice as I already showed you. The problem he talks about is the fact that the plug for the A/V cable does not fit in the system when the HDMI cable is plugged in so the question was how to get sound if not through the HDMI cable. The answer is that you will have to pop the plastic off the bottom of the standard cable so that you can have both plugged in at the same time. Here is an article on that: http://www.chadledford.com/?p=50 It kind of sucks to have to take that plastic off but it simply pops off with a screwdriver and it doesn't damage the cable. And doing that you don't have to dish out $50 for the adapter MS sells to allow you to plugin HDMI and output stereo or optical sound. So total cost is under $10 and you should be good to go. Glad you posted that! I was wondering what in the heck I could do. I didn't want to wait around ordering off the Internet, so I spent 30 bucks on an HDMI/DVI conversion cable with 24K gold plated connectors by Philips. Expensive, but it was the only type of HDMI/DVI conversion cable in the store. I popped off the fat bottom part of the other cable, thanks to the link you posted, and now I have sound and a 1440 x 900 Xbox 360 display on my monitor. Flipping between the Xbox 360 and the PC is painless with that source button. I expected the screen to mess up in one way or another, but it switches perfectly. Now I can read the text! Everything looks much better than it did on a standard TV. Thanks for the help.

That is a great display and you should get a great picture from the 360 on it. Realize that your DVD's will also upscale to that resolution since you are using a digital output. So slap in a good DVD and enjoy the high-def upconversion. Oh yeah... make sure that the video mode is set to widescreen in your 360 video settings. It will look better than a stretched 4:3 picture through a widescreen resolution. Edited June 2, 2009 by Hyper_Eye

Is that different from System Settings > Console Settings > Display > Screen Resolution > 1440 x 900 Widescreen Standard?
Hyper_Eye
Is that different from System Settings > Console Settings > Display > Screen Resolution > 1440 x 900 Widescreen Standard? With some resolutions (HD standard resolutions like 720p and 1080i/p) automatically put the console into a widescreen mode. But with some you have to set the resolution and then go down to the next setting and set it to widescreen. I bet I would have been more impressed if I played them using the monitor.
