Is there an updated version of this list with the latest hacks and homebrews included from up to 2013? Just curious.

I'm still slowly working on an updated version and i will post it probably in fall when i have more time. Checking and replacing all roms with later/final versions takes much longer than i expected. :ponder:

A 3rd party cartridge that uses RAM memory instead of ROM. By plugging in its audio cable to a common audio recorder, game programs are fed into its memory. In addition to their own games that they sold (which visually outclassed pretty much anything being produced at the time by others), a side benefit is that any game which did not rely on bankswitching or added RAM could also be fed into the cartridge...with a slight catch: the two memory addresses that the unit itself uses to control this RAM manipulation must be left unused by the program loaded -OR- to modify the unit to include a "read-only" switch so that programs are not corrupted by doing so. Hacking the programs to remove references to those two memory locations means you don't need to modify the hardware.

You're welcome! :D

I end up sorting all my ROMs anyway, so if it can help anyone else out, so much the better.

Here's an updated version. I re-sorted about 30 Hacks that ended up in the wrong folders, and have done a rough sort of the Homebrews, too:

Hacks:

  • bankswitch conversions
  • Supercharger conversions
  • hacks (sorted by game)
  • NTSC conversions
  • PAL conversions
  • palette select hacks

Homebrews are now sorted by:

  • demos
  • homebrews (WIPs)
  • homebrews

For demos, I also included anything I could find that were solely music or image demos. As with the hacks, this was all done based on how the binaries were named, so it's not going to be 100% accurate without someone going through and checking each one.

Holy crap, @Nathan Strum, Mr. Nathan!  There are literally like 2,000 ROM's in there.  I can't believe you actually sorted them all!  How did you do it?  Did others help you?

Anyway, thanks @Impaler_26 for putting up this awesome collection!  And thanks Mr. Nathan for sorting it (however you did that)!  What an awesome resource for the entire Atari community!

I actually had download the collection years ago from the first post, but I guess I didn't read far enough into the discussion, I just now saw that Mr. Nathan sorted it!  Thus the 'Holy Crap!' reaction, above.

P.S.  I like the Ms. Ghost (hack of Ms. Pac-Man).  It's super cute and funny!

I have no idea... it was 15 years ago. I was young and foolish then.

Now, I'm just foolish.

(The naming had already been done by others. So I probably just searched by name and selected/moved what matched.)
