Captain Beard
I have boxes of joysticks that I need to sell but first I have to test them all... What's a good game to use for testing? I want to make sure I'm checking every joystick direction and button function in the quickest, simplest way possible (I have a LOT of joysticks to test...) BigO
I always use Outlaw. Aside from that, I have a protoboard with a bunch of LED's and resistors connected to a 5v power supply. I've used it for testing various controllers and for doing a complete mapping of the INTV controller for a future project. toymailman
I use Outlaw to test my joysticks. I've found the testcart to be good at seeing if they work, but then Outlaw is useful to see how well they work. You get a good feel of responsivness in all directions and the button of course shoots. +Random Terrain
Millipede Michael I've heard of the first game, but what is the second? Is that a proto?
SeaGtGruff
I've heard of the first game, but what is the second? Is that a proto? I'm not sure, but I think it might be based on the lead character in one of those horror movie series. Michael
Red 5
I also use Missile Command or the Michael Prototype.
Atariboy
Miniature Golf/Arcade Golf seems like it would be the best choice to me. Can easily test out all 8 directions of the controller and the button at your own leisure. Adventure is a good choice too, but by going with that golf game, you don't have to hunt down things to pick up to test the fire button like you would in Adventure. Why not whip up more?? Right, why not, I'll get more LEDs and get to it.
Zwackery
Combat, game 23 or 24.
phuzzed
I always use Adventure. You can start a game and let it run almost indefinetly without having to worry about being killed immediately. Plus, there is a sword in the first castle to grab and you can test the fire button at that point.

Atari recommended Combat for joystick testing on the planes level. For paddles they recommended Casino; keyboard controller, Braingames; and for the driving controller, Indy 500 (obviously ). Lauren Tyler
Personally, I use Haunted House. When I turn the game on, I can test the joystick and see if the eyes point in those directions, then I turn it on and can check the button.
