Herbarius
I'd say all games that fit those criteria are good for joystick testing: * being able to move in all directions on the first screen * your character stops moving if you release the joystick (unlike Pac-Man) * being able to use the fire button with a visible effect on the first screen Centipede and E.T. are good examples IMO. +Random Terrain
. . . E.T. . . Oh no you di'int! You used the E to the T word!
tremoloman2006
I like to use Surround, game #14 - its a drawing mode and lets you move in all directions. Pressing fire keeps you from drawing. Great way to test joysticks!

Zigazgman1
I would use adventure. Perfect for testing controllers.

VectorGamer
I have boxes of joysticks that I need to sell but first I have to test them all... What's a good game to use for testing? I want to make sure I'm checking every joystick direction and button function in the quickest, simplest way possible (I have a LOT of joysticks to test...) ChinaSyn232
I Recomend Either China Syndrome or Asteroids.
teh_d3th_st4r
I use Defender to test my joysticks.
+thegoldenband
One of the Swordquest games could be a good choice, since you've got 8-way movement that stops when you do, no enemies in the main rooms, and a use for the fire button.
