AtariSociety
Is there anyway to remove a permanent ink marker writing from a computer case without discoloring the case under the writing? I have a computer where someone wrote their name in some black marker and I want to remove it but now screw up the case color under the ink. Thanks tj

Thanks tj Try using a dry erase marker (The kind you use on white boards). Write over the existing permanent ink, then wipe off before it drys. +wood_jl
Try Coleman Camp Fuel (petroleum naptha). Or, try Ronsignal (sp?) lighter fluid, as it's available in small qtys. I've never used "Goo Gone" but I strongly suspect it contains similar petroleum distillates. Sometimes, 91% isopropyl alcohol removes marker, too. Anything more harsh (lacquer thinner, acetone, etc) will melt the case.
+remowilliams
Goof Off is the stuff that generally melts plastic due to the solvents. Goo Gone Citrus works wonders without solvents and eating the plastic or turning it to cream cheese.
+save2600
I've had fantastic results with Spray Power. Doesn't burn or modify the plastic either - as far as I can tell. You don't need to let it sit for very long. Spray it on, wait a few secs and then wipe off. http://www.spraypower.com/products.htm
