UNIXcoffee928
- What are the correct technical names & numbers of the male & female SIO connectors? - Was this type of connector ever used on any other manufacturer's equipment, besides Atari, or was it strictly an Atari part? Thanks.

sloopy
as far as i know, they were exclusive to the atari, and were never used anywhere else except the SIO. i used to see them listed in many catalogs as 13 Pin SIO, or Atari SIO connector M/F, and that was it, never anything beyond that... sloopy. Bryan
We need a late '70s Molex catalog to be sure, but I think they were an existing part that didn't end up being very popular.
candle
if they were exclusive, why some dot-matrix printers utilised them? (cannon? it was somewhere in this very forum - ah c0nsumer and sddrive nuxx thread!)

JohnBuell
Hello guys A little bit off topic, but where does the name "Molex" come from? sincerely Mathy Molex is a company that manufactures a lot of different electronic connectors, etc. www.molex.com Their corporate office is about a half hour away from my house, in Lisle, IL. Hmm, maybe they'd let me check a library of old catalogs if they have them?
OldAtarian
if they were exclusive, why some dot-matrix printers utilised them? (cannon? it was somewhere in this very forum - ah c0nsumer and sddrive nuxx thread!) Any printer you find with an SIO port on it is designed to be Atari compatible without using an interface. No other computer used it.

(cannon? it was somewhere in this very forum - ah c0nsumer and sddrive nuxx thread!) Okidata. They had these color printers with different communications modules. One for Atari, one for C64, etc. I had pulled the Atari module from a dead Okidata printer I found some time ago. When c0nsumer started the project I sent him the board for the SIO ports. --Kurt Edited November 24, 2010 by kurtm
