Atari_Falcon
Hello, for this year's OFAM Atari meeting I want to show some "impressive" Atari 2600 games so I am collecting this stuff at the moment. Which 2600 games look best? It would also be great if they would play fine, too And the BEST would be if they were 2600 only or at least on no other Atari console (here in Germany the 5200 didn't exist, so a 5200 conversion would be no problem)! My list (not sorted) of some of the best looking 2600 games looks like this: - Solaris -> 2600 only afaik - Pitfall 2 -> other conversions exist, but 2600 version can compare even with coleco vision version - Mario Bros. -> 7800 version exists which is better looking - Pole Position -> available on other Atari systems - Realsports Boxing -> 2600 only afaik - Fatal Run -> much better 7800 version exists - Smurf -> no other ATARI version afaik - Pressure Cooker -> no other Atari version - Moon Patrol -> other Atari versions exists, better looking, but 2600 is best playable imho Would be great if you could add some games to my list! Stay Atari!

Tinman
Demon Attack (simple, but good) Phaser Patrol (I know this one is cheating a bit since it's a Supercharger game, but the first time I saw the raising shields effect it totally blew me away). Rex Dart
A lot of Activision titles, of course... Keystone Kapers, Beamrider, and Frostbite all look great in my opinion.
tremoloman2006
A few titles I think look and play great: Berzerk Missle Command Pete Rose Baseball Tomcat: The F-14 Fighter Simulator Turmoil Space Shuttle... or pretty much any Activision title The Official Frogger (I know it's cheating... but it does look impressive!) If you count homebrews there are tons to choose from!
VectorGamer
If Pole Position is on your list than you may want to consider Enduro Frogger (Official by Starpath) Commie Mutants (also by Starpath) Tapper
4ever2600
Tunnel Runner for sure, probably some of the biggest and best animated graphics on the 2600. Great gameplay too!
high voltage
Amidar and Super Cobra that graphic style rocks on VCS X-MAN
+LS650
As one poster pointed out, most games by Activision look very good. I think Battlezone looks great, and is actually a pretty decent playing conversion of the the arcade game. Some of the homebrews look really good: Ladybug and Toyshop Trouble come to mind. Brian O
As one poster pointed out, most games by Activision look very good. I think Battlezone looks great, and is actually a pretty decent playing conversion of the the arcade game. Some of the homebrews look really good: Ladybug and Toyshop Trouble come to mind. Yeah, Ladybug definitely needs to be on the list. It's the total package -- incredible graphics, great music/sounds, and very fun to play. -B

Atari_Falcon
Thanks for your help! There are now definately more on my list: Fathom, (of course most) Activision titles, Road Runner and Battlezone look most like what I have in my mind. Maybe secret quest, too... I personally also like Xenophobe's graphics. They may not be "good" and sprites also flicker, but it was the last 2600 title I bought back in 1991 and it was the only version of Xenophobe I knew back then... In fact I was really disappointed of the 7800 and Lynx version to look "cartoonish". When I played it on the 2600 it was like a real "horror" game, like Alien vs Predator would be later for me on the Jaguar. The arcade and other versions look like having fun in space
holgibo
Have a look at Conquest Of Mars.
