What was the link on the one that was for auction? Ah here we go... eBay Auction -- Item Number: 230592464821 Yeh, that was a beauty. Of course I prefer beige as always, so that was not beige enough for me.
Rhod
I forgot to bid, for this one I have not paid more than $ 150 / 160 no regrets, I'll wait for the next 2 years ago, at $ 100 did not find a buyer before leaving the following week to $ 180 I have not bought the first week, lack of money... jacobus
I've never understood why the regular variety of the 850 (and I assuming this one) only came in plain brown cardboard boxes. I have several 850's (non metallic) but have never bothered to bid on a boxed one - too ugly!
Rhod
850 boxed http://rhod.fr/pages/atari_850.html

Yep, I was bidding on that one too. Had my bid ready to send at $180, then it jumped to $200... Got the previous 830 though Next time I'll have to have a bid of $250 ready I guess. +orpheuswaking
Well yeah, but it gets bloody annoying that it's only a dollar in most cases.
BillC
Well yeah, but it gets bloody annoying that it's only a dollar in most cases. It's only $1 more because that's the bid increment, they might have set their maximum bid $50 higher yet.

I still can't believe that I let that boxed Atari CX70 Light Pen get away... If you guys are ever hurting for cash, I pay top dollar for rare A8 stuff My latest kill - eBay Auction -- Item Number: 320667500257

fibrewire
If you have it, would you be willing to part with a Corvus to Atari interface?
sloopy
heh i had a corvus system years ago... had everything for 3 'users', but alas it was all for the Apple ][+ sloopy.
MEtalGuy66
wow. you guys are wasting eachothers money.. You should all decide beforehand who is gonna bid, and only place one collective bid..
joeventura
If you have it, would you be willing to part with a Corvus to Atari interface? I only have one sadly. They are not very complex devices.
fibrewire
I don't suppose you would be willing to take the interface apart and photograph it so i can try to breadboard an interface together? Also could you provide me with disk images of any corvus software you may have?
fibrewire
Yeah we really are wasting each other's money - but it's an addiction. I want all the cool Atari 800 stuff, and even though I've been meaning to amass an A8 collection for some time now (and have been working on it for the last year) the truth is it's all been laying around or going into dumpsters on a daily basis for 30+ years now. More A8 stuff will go into dumpsters, and more collectors will scavenge over whats left. The expense is totally worth it. Lets just be thankful we aren't as bad off as the PDP guys are. My A8 inspiration is this picture.
fibrewire
Here is my own A8 shrine as of September 2010. I have tons more stuff now, and it's really coming together. I even bought this original circa 1980s student desk to complete the look of the setup!
