littleman jack
I don't have any of these, nor a drive to connect the roms to the computer, so I'll play three that have not been played before in the 8-bit contests. Space Invaders (Atari's version, without the shields) Deluxe Invaders (Roklan) and everyone's target for worst game: Congo Bongo (which I actually like ). Hope these are okay. I'll start tonight. And finish by the end of this round, with game variations listed (I believe each of these has multiple variations, so I'll pick one for each version unless trbb has ideas for which versions I should take on). So you like space invaders eh! 2pts for playing each game plus as follows: Atari Invaders was played in Season7-Round4 but thats fine. Bonus pts based on what you manage in the old table. Congo Bongo I have 45,970 Lv5 Screen1 listed as my best, so you can earn 1pt per level completed and another 3pts if you beat my score :!: Deluxe invaders I'll have one go and if you beat that score 1pt. Thanks for the other info. I'll try to get busy with some attempts at the challenges and scores you posted on my 800! And one day I'll get an XL or XE and try the Gwobby games. atariron82
I'm closing in on Gwobby level 6 . I've discovered some interesting quirks in the game: i) When jumping straight up to get a ring, on rare occasions Gwobby stalls and can literally "sky walk" up to the next tier(above)! ii) Every now and then Gwobby turns blue, for reasons unknown(so far..) iii) In a very strange turn, whilst leaping to claim a ring, Gwobby gets a mild zap(costing a life), the screen flashes...then he returns all decked out in white! Maybe ghost Gwobby? This has only happened twice so far in a few dozen games. I got this far: 38,800 Long live Atari!: Gwobby sports a flashy new zoot-suit!:
+therealbountybob
Is Atari Invaders the same as Space Invaders by Atari? I thought one had shields and one didn't. Do they play the same otherwise? Not sure will have to play both as well as deluxe :!: Not yet. Just out of curiosity, how many levels are there? Is there an ending to the game? I didn't have enough RAM to do an ending (unlike in its predecessor Gwobby's Adventure) so the game will continue, the difficulty increases regularly at first then periodically up to level 95 or so, the level counter shows funny characters after that but the game still plays on. I hopefully made it too hard for anyone to get to level 100 (or roll the score counter) but that could be considered the end! There are 230k+ possible level variations. The best I've been to is about level 12 from the start but 16 would be a realistic target I'm closing in on Gwobby level 6 . Maybe ghost Gwobby? This has only happened twice so far in a few dozen games. i/iii) These are two of the strange side effects usually triggered by not fully grasping the rings keep the stick held and jump confidently There are a few shortcuts around too e.g. the 'rope' at the start. ii) Getting low on air/time (<1500) iii) On your last life if you get the x-ray machine, if it malfunctions you may be lucky and get a Ghost Gwobby, if you finish the level he is reincarnated

_Fandal_
I think that level 5 of TDF2 should be quite easy for experienced players but level 7 is a real challenge even for author. I beat level 7 in original version several times (you must destroy 99 enemy dreadnaughts) but I haven't been able to do that in TDF2 so far... F.
