+therealbountybob
@zylon so it's official the a8 games are tougher @McKong great score for Crossfire, I just need that one for a clean sweep... c'mon guys Lunar Leeper - EVERYONE - the ATR will run as it is (though best with the translator disk link on post 1), just the text/scoreboard is corrupted (presss option once on the control selection screen, then start). To rack up a big score don't kill any leapers and rescue the men. You can fly thorough the leapers' legs so I go for an over under flight path / fly up to them then break then go under also works well. I can say that the 2600 version is one of the worst games I'd ever played. It does seem that my "crossfire" on c64 is harder than A8, but again I have nothing to compare with.

Vaughan
Okay - fair enough. But then, you're already playing a different version of the game, so I'm not sure what difference it could make, it surely couldn't be any different than what you have now. But hey, I certainly don't make the rules around here. It's a little strange that we're comparing apples and oranges (Atari version against another platform) since surely we all know different versions can be harder/easier etc. Hm, this has probably been discussed many times before - sorry to bring it up. --lol-- Just to humour me, could you download the emulated version and play it? I'd like to see if you can turn the clock on the Atari version.
zylon
I have a 5200/A8 emulator for Dreamcast I can try if it's on there. I can't download anything to this computer as I don't own it. I get to use it whenever I want though for free. I agree that the C64 port of this title is rather easy. Vic-20 is much harder. I can roll it but not consistently and haven't submitted that one yet out of sportsmanship.
Vaughan
Well, I was curious - I thought the score you submitted here was a non-Atari version, so I can't judge it against my own because of possible version changes. Turning the clock on the Atari version - I'd imagine - would be extremely difficult. Hence, if you could do it I'd be mucho impressed! If I'm going to win any of these competitions I'm going to need to know the easiest version to use.

sloopy
Got to another level on Marauder: 137,500 Anyone know what the squiggle after the bonus countdown is (for) and how many people are playing crossfire on the keyboard? just asking... sloopy. I am. I think it's easier with a keyboard. incidentally in Crossfire on the A8 (when looking for the pause key - which is P), I found that space moved you up, Control and Up fired up, and 3 fired down... can't seem to find any other controls. Wonder why these are coded Also discovered the 'glide and shoot' or maybe the 'crossfire' move where you move up or across and keep fire held and then shoot down all the rows/columns as you go along Voting open for round 15 the game isnt fixed for XL/XE, which i said a few times ;'P on an 800 four keys on the left of the kb fire in the four directions, and 4 keys on the right move in the 4 directions... this makes it easy to shoot in the opposite direction of travel etc... sloopy.

Some cases A8 is hardest, while others Vic-20 and sometimes C64 is tougher. Vic-20 is rather close to A8 as far as third-party games go. The c64 versions are usually harder or easier, but rarely the same.
